Pele and Maradona are called the two greatest players in football history. Both of them had their own difficult journeys and made their biggest impacts at the World Cup. Pele burst on to the scene at 17 years of age in the 1958 World Cup and scored six goals to propel Brazil to the title. He followed it up by winning further World Cups with Brazil in 1962 and 1970 to build an everlasting legacy.
However, he finally got competition for the throne of the greatest with the emergence of Maradona. The player just won one World Cup with Argentina in 1986. But it was his ability to take even a weak team to unprecedented heights that made the world look up and laud him as one of the greatest. Nevertheless, both the players had wonderful respect for each other and never considered themselves as rivals.
