While his on-court performances have been commendable, his personal life is set to get a little complicated, as his ex-girlfriend Brenda Patea recently confirmed that she is pregnant with their child.

A model and influencer, Brenda Patea recently gave an interview with Gala, a German media website, confirming the news.

She said, “I’m 20 weeks pregnant and I am expecting a child from Alex. The child was not planned, but I will do everything to ensure that it grows up in a harmonious environment.

She also shared that she is not in contact with the World No. 7 anymore, and plans to raise the child by herself. On the question of sharing custody with Zverev, she said, “That is out of the question for meI am in the fortunate position of being able to raise the child by myself.”

A “crisis” led to their breakup

The superstar couple had begun dating last year, with Brenda occasionally accompanying Zverev on tour and also attending many events together. However, according to her, their differing goals from the relationship led to their split.

She said, “There was a crisis before because we have different views on life. Anyone who lives by the side of an athlete has to submit,” referring to the hectic schedules of tennis players and how they have to work their personal and professional lives in tandem.

Leaving personal things aside, Zverev has had a brilliant season. He clinched both the Cologne indoor hardcourt titles and made a finals appearance at the US Open. He was in pole position to win, but a five-sets comeback resulted in him losing to Dominic Thiem.
