Shocking news from the French Open as defending champion Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the ongoing tournament. The Serbian, who has rarely withdrawn due to an injury was forced to pull out after last night’s fall.

During his match against Francisco Cerundolo, the Serbian suffered a nasty fall while chasing after the Argentine’s forehand. He fell hard and was soon forced to call a medical timeout. At that moment, all the fans were not very worried about his knee, but soon Djokovic revealed that he was already suffering from immense pain and might have injured himself after the fall.

As expected, the Serbian took an MRI of the knee and the results came out today. All the eyes were on him and everyone understood what the results meant when Djokovic canceled his practice. Soon, news flowed in that he had suffered a meniscus tear on his right knee and had to withdraw from the tournament.

With that, Casper Ruud gets a free pass to the semi-finals of the Roland Garros, making it his third consecutive now. He will now face the winner of Alexander Zverev and Alex De MInaur for a spot in the finals.

With this, the Serbian also failed to make it to the finals, meaning he lost about 1600 points, allowing Jannik Sinner to surpass him. The Italian has now reached a career-high ranking of World No.1 and will officially be titled that after Roland Garros.

Tough news for Djokovic, who fought extremely hard over the last week to make it where he is despite a disappointing year. The Serbian has not spoken about it to the press and the whole tennis world is looking forward to it.
