UFC Paris was a night to remember for the French fans. A potential title eliminator bout co-headlined the fight card. The fight card was filled with some incredible match-ups, which delivered as they promised. For top middleweight Brendan Allen, it was quite the opposite, a night that the middleweight fighter would like to forget.
Brendan Allen fought against homegrown star Nassourdine Imavov in a highly anticipated middleweight bout, which he lost by unanimous decision. With the loss, Allen lost his exceptional seven-fight winning streak. As a result, his title run lost momentum. Dricus Du Plessis, the divisional champion, made sure to utilize the chance to rub it on the opponent and insult him via a tweet.
Brendan Allen declared himself to be the best middleweight contender prior to the bout. The fighter intended to target the winner of Du Plessis vs. Sean Strickland after wrapping up his business in Paris. But all of his dreams had come to an end, and naturally, he wasn’t amused by DDP’s sneaky jab. The fighter reacted aggressively claiming that he would still dominate the South African in a fight.
Tough luck @BrendanAllenMMA JK you suck loser 🤣

The long-standing animosity between DDP and Brendan Allen started with a light-hearted joke made by the champion. But Allen took it personally, felt insulted, and has been pursuing Du Plessis ever since. For the time being, the hunt will have to wait. Allen needs a massive win over a top contender to regain his momentum.
Brendan Allen reacts to his loss at UFC Paris
Going into the fight, Brendan Allen was in a spectacular run defeating opponents such as Bruno Silva, Paul Craig, etc. The American fighter had some troubles regarding blood testing before the fight in Paris but was confident about winning. On the other hand, Nassourdine Imavov came into the fight with a win against Jared Cannonier and delivered a masterclass.
The fight saw Allen frequently shooting for takedowns and Imavov defending them wisely. Allen didn’t get the opportunity to try anything and was outclassed by the Frenchman’s excellent striking. Both men had questionable gas tanks, and Imavov persevered with technique. After the bout, Allen accepted his defeat and thanked his supporters.
At the age of 28, losing a winning streak like that must be difficult for the fighter. Allen, however, has no intention of giving up and has already promised a stronger and better comeback. He even promised to get his hands on the title quickly. It will be interesting to see if he can face his bitter rival Dricus Du Plessis for the UFC championship.
