The Montreal Screwjob is one of the most infamous stories in professional wrestling. The incident caused a huge rift between Bret Hart and Vince McMahon and drove the Hitman out of the company for more than a decade. The Hall of Famer recently talked about the aftermath of this infamous event and the story of him punching his former boss.

Speaking on the Attitude Era podcast, the 67-year-old revealed that he didn’t go hunting for Vince McMahon and never charged towards him. Rather, the two of them simply walked up to each other, and Hart knocked him out with a single punch. He claimed that this was the sweetest punch he had ever thrown. Although he broke his hand during the process, he claimed that it was well worth it.

I knocked him [Vince McMahon] out with one punch and it was the greatest punch I ever threw. Absolutely beautiful uppercut right between his arms and I lifted him about a foot off the ground, broke my hand. But it was the sweetest punch I ever threw and I wouldn't change anything about it. Vince McMahon can rot in hell.

Hart claimed that there were several alternatives to the way that WWE went about the situation. Instead, this was a case of cheaters, liars, and backstabbers who made such a moment happen. He wished that he would’ve also knocked out Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and anybody with notable involvement in the screwjob.

Michael Cole seemingly takes a shot at Vince McMahon on the latest episode of Raw

While McMahon was running the show at WWE, he imposed several bizarre rules on his wrestlers. Furthermore, commentators also had to be extremely careful about the language they used on TV. Most famously, this comprised using “sports entertainment” rather than “professional wrestling.” Furthermore, he used to constantly be in commentators’ ears and give them instructions from the gorilla position.

One of the commentators who suffered the most from this is Michael Cole, whose commentary significantly improved under the new regime. The 55-year-old seemingly took a shot at his former boss and his rules on the latest episode of Raw. McMahon had instructed all commentators and wrestlers that hospitals should not be mentioned as such. Instead, they should be called local medical facilities.

The latest episode of Raw featured a NO DQ match between The Miz and Bronson Reed. During the match, Pat McAfee got extremely hyped up and stood up from his seat after the Australian broke a kendo stick in half. The commentating veteran cheekily told his partner that if he doesn’t calm down, might end up in a “local medical facility.”
