The New York Yankees have been on a skid following the loss of captain Aaron Judge due to a rib injury. On Thursday, General Manager Brian Cashman gave a grim update regarding him. Fans on social media were left upset following this development.
Judge has been sidelined from action since early June. After experiencing some discomfort during the series against the Athletics, he missed the games against the Cleveland Guardians and underwent an MRI scan.
He was then diagnosed with a rib fracture. As per reports, he hurt himself while trying to field a ball during a game against the Houston Astros in late April. Despite the pain, he kept on playing through May.
As per the initial reports in June, the Yankees star was expected to be out for approximately 4 to 6 weeks before being re-imaged. On Thursday, Cashman spoke with the reporters at Tropicana Field and informed them that he will be re-imaged during the upcoming All-Star Break.

I don’t think we’re anticipating it’s coming back clean. I think we’re anticipating and hopeful that it’s showing the healing process.

The Yankees previously stated that they expected him to return at some point in the second half of the season. Judge, however, refused to put a timeline on his return after being placed on the injured list.
Initially, the Bronx Bombers enjoyed success without Judge, winning 8 out of their first 13 games in his absence. Since June 18, the team has suffered another mid-season slump and was 5-15 in their last 20 games entering Thursday.

He's done for the season. They won't say it because they know how the BX will react. Cashman is the worst thing to ever happen to this franchise.

Judge had been hitting .248 with 17 home runs and 38 RBIs. His struggles with his upper body were evident in May as he went on an 11-game home run drought.
Aaron Judge recently criticized his teammates following the Yankees’ skid
Last week, the New York Yankees got swept by the Detroit Tigers. This marked a 7th successive loss, as they previously got swept by the Boston Red Sox. In the midst of their barren run, Aaron Judge dropped a rare criticism of his teammates.

Judge was with the team last Wednesday when they lost to the Tigers. While speaking with the media, the 3-time American League MVP appeared disappointed with the efforts of his teammates.
Well, it’s not great. Just a little lack of focus. We just gotta dial it in. Our ultimate goal is to win a World Series. I think guys have to remember that every single day they show up here.
Aaron Judge told the reporters as per Chris Kirschner

The Yankees captain was with the team once again on Thursday. Following a 3-0 shutout loss against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, the team had fallen 5 games behind their opponents in the AL East division race.
Thursday saw the bats get hot. After going down 0-1 in the first inning through a solo home run from Junior Caminero, the Yankees scored 6 runs in the third inning.
A double from Ryan McMahon, a single from Trent Grisham, a 2-run home run from Ben Rice, a single from Jose Caballero, and a sacrifice fly from Jazz Chisholm Jr. saw them put 6 runs on the board and break a 20-game streak of not scoring 5 or more runs in a single game.
As the Rays fell behind 5-1, they replaced pitcher Drew Rasmussen. The cameras then pointed to Judge calling for the bullpen.

In the end, the Yanks won 12-4 with Rice hitting a 3-run home run later in the game. With the series split, they remain 4 games behind the Rays before the final series of the 1st half of the 2026 season with a 51-42 record.
