But, unfortunately, Andersen’s late own goal helped the home side to end the match in a draw.
Let’s take a look at the player ratings for Brighton vs Crystal Palace:-
Brighton vs Crystal Palace Player Ratings
Brighton
Roberto Sanchez (8/10): Some good saves for his team, but he was not properly tested in this match.
Joel Veltman (6/10): No such contribution from him today other than some standing tackles and short passes. There was no proper man-marking from him which gave easy chances for the opposite side to penetrate.
Adam Webster (7/10): A not so satisfying performance from him tonight, other than some good clearances. There was a lack of proper coordination between him and his fellow teammates.
Dan Burn (/10): Some lovely first touches and on-two touch passes made the opposition think twice about stopping him. He was maintaining a high line of defence which could have brought a negative impact on his team.
Marc Cucurella (5.5/10): Nothing as such from him today. With some serious miss passes and bad touches, it proved dangerous for the defence.
Jakub Moder (/10): Today was not his night. He tried putting the ball in the net but luck didn’t favour him. With some awesome runs and shots on target, his play proved somewhat fatal for the opposition.
Pascal Groß (6.5/10): Building up possession for the team, winning balls and short passes. These were a treat to the eyes of this midfielder. Though some mistakes made by him might have cost his team a lot.
Adam Lallana (8/10): An experienced player has his eyes all over the field. A proper compact midfielder with crisp and beautifully long and short passes. Also adding on to the team’s possession with his tactical gameplay and skills. Unfortunately, he was subbed off in the second half due to an injury.
Alexis Mac Allister (8/10): He was quite good in midfield today but his passes were quite often intercepted by the opponent’s defence. He could perform better today and could have contributed much more.
Neal Maupay (8/10): A good game by him today. He was there for his team and helped his attack and midfield simultaneously. Good touches and aerial balls from his feet helped his team play well today.
Leandro Trossard (7/10): He played well throughout but the penalty miss cost his team a lot. His short passes were a treat to the eyes as well. But, as a Centre Forward he could have performed much better.
Substitutes:
Tariq Lamptey (8/10): His overlapping runs were just fabulous. He made the game look more beautiful with his skilful plays.
Danny Welbeck (7.5/10): Though he used his experience to play well and help his team win, it was not his day today. His shots were either blocked or saved. His late header was a potential threat for the home side.
Crystal Palace
Eberechi Eze (6/10): He was in good coordination and quite fast in counter-attacks. But some mischances by him were not accepted.
Odsonne Edouard (6/10): A not so satisfying performance from him tonight except for a good cross which was a free header.
Michael Olise (6/10): He was good with his overlapping runs but ultimately he couldn’t convert his runs into some potential crosses and passes. Sometimes he was quite off on the field and couldn’t perform as expected.
Jeffrey Schlupp (7/10): His crucial assist in the 70th minute to Gallagher took his team in the lead. Adding on, he was good with runs made in the opponent’s half and some short passes.
Will Hughes (7/10): A potential Central Midfielder for today. His passes were good. His involvement as a player was too good in the game. But, a silly foul inside the D-box cost his team a lot. But Butland’s good save, saved his team
Conor Gallagher (8.5/10): With some crucial passes and proper overlapping and supporting the defenders in need, this player has proved himself to be in good form. Though, we didn’t see any assist or long-range shots from his feet today. In the last quarter, with a crucial shot, his team took the lead.
Tyrick Mitchell (7/10): He played as a good left-back and was there when his team needed the most. Some good aerial balls helped his team switch the play from one side to the other. But he was not composed at all today and was losing balls while attacking.
Marc Guehi (7.5/10): He played like a wall for his team. He was there in the defence as well in the strike when his team needed the most. He also had the most number of touches in Brightons d-box.
Joachim Andersen (7/10): He was maintaining a proper defence line for his team. Also, he marked the players too well thus restricting them from possessing a threat in the goal. But, a late own goal from him killed the morale of his team.
Joel Ward (5/10): He lacked proper coordination with his teammates, which created a space for the strikers to pass through. But Crystal Palace’s goalkeeper was there to the rescue till the last minute.
Jack Butland (9/10): A good controlled player for today. Two potential saves proved quite helpful for his team. His involvement and liveliness in the game were felt throughout the game.
