Brock Lesnar Pummels John Cena in a One-Sided Affair at Wrestlepalooza by Emulating His SummerSlam 2014 Beating

John Cena seemed helpless in his first singles match with Brock Lesnar since 2014 at last night's Wrestlepalooza PLE.

The ESPN takeover of WWE PLEs began with Brock Lesnar manhandling John Cena at Wrestlepalooza. An even more bulked-up Lesnar got formally introduced by his longtime manager, Paul Heyman, signaling they are back on the same page after running into each other at SmackDown last Friday. Nonetheless, once that bell rang, the former UFC 265lbs champion didn’t allow Cena to breathe freely.

In a one-sided affair that was eerily reminiscent of their 2014 showdown from SummerSlam, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ smashed ‘The Cenation Leader’. While the latter did show some resistance in pockets, it was never going to be enough to tame Lesnar. The ex-NCAA champion planted his foe with half a dozen F-5s, thus rendering him impotent. It marked Cena’s second singles loss in his ongoing farewell tour.

‘The Beast’ wasn’t done wreaking havoc. He put his hands on the referee, Dan Angler, by hitting him with an F-5 before doing the same to Cena once again, and made the final exit. Lesnar had already gone too far on SmackDown by physically threatening Michael Cole. When Corey Graves stood up for the veteran commentator, the 48-year-old ended up assaulting Graves.

Last night at Wrestlepalooza, ‘The Conqueror’ doubled down on the momentum he’d picked up merely 24 hours before the event. Lesnar’s thumping of Cena was The Beast’s first WWE match since going down to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2023.

The ten-time world champion was pegged to return at last year’s Royal Rumble. However, his involvement in the Janel Grant lawsuit accusing Vince McMahon and several other WWE execs of physical abuse and s*x trafficking prompted the company to take him out of the equation.

Brock Lesnar’s beating of John Cena made kids cry at Wrestlepalooza

Coming out of that hammering at Wrestlepalooza, John Cena is only left with five more appearances before he rides off into the sunset. The fans will see him competing in almost three weeks in Perth at Crown Jewel on October 11. It would be interesting to see what could be awaiting the Hollywood mogul in the land down under.

He is not scheduled for any dates for Raw and SmackDown in the meantime to build anything up. Is he in for a rematch against Lesnar? Time will tell. The WWE Universe is seemingly enraged with the kind of outing he had with ‘The Beast’ at Wrestlepalooza. It even brought tears to the eyes of some children in the crowd who were spotted on camera.

Brock Lesnar is not here to put smiles on people’s faces. Brock Lesnar is here to put tears in the eyes of children!

Paul Heyman via Wrestlepalooza post-show

Adding insult to the injury, Lesnar’s old friend and newfound associate, Paul Heyman, glorified his former client’s act during the Wrestlepalooza post-show. ‘The Oracle’ reminded everyone what he said after ‘The Next Big Thing’ snapped The Undertaker‘s undefeated streak at WrestleMania 30 in 2014. Heyman affirmed that Lesnar isn’t here to put smiles on everyone’s faces but to make the children cry.

Is Brock Lesnar joining The Vision for the WarGames showdown?

Brock Lesnar circling back to Paul Heyman seems to be a well-calculated move by WWE, with Survivor Series just over two months away. As the WarGames concept is still intact for this year’s edition of the said PLE, the company would need big-time attractions to pack people up for the Petco Park-hosted spectacle.

The fans could see Heyman convincing Lesnar to join Seth Rollins‘ Vision faction on a temporary basis in the weeks to come. With Rollins and his henchmen, viz., Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, running rampant of late, the addition of Lesnar to the fold would only forge a near invincible unit.

They are expected to be opposed by not only John Cena but also Roman Reigns. ‘The OTC’ was written off WWE television at Clash in Paris when Breakker and Reed launched a sneak attack on him in the aftermath of his victory. Reigns is due for his revenge, and he’d definitely need some backup in order to realize it. A helping hand from The Usos would also suffice.
