Bronny James has been attracting a lot of attention since he entered the NBA Draft Combine. Teams are drawn not just because of what he has shown in the measurables and workouts, but also because of the situation with his father LeBron James.

But news trickled in that the draft contender has been declining to work out. The only ones he has accepted are from Kevin Durant‘s Phoenix Suns as well as his father’s Los Angeles Lakers, leaving fans fuming.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania revealed during an episode of Run it Back on Fan Duel TV that Bronny James received over 10 workout invites. However, he declined eight of them. He has already worked out with the Phoenix Suns. Apparently, he agreed to work with them in further workouts as well.

The Suns have the 22nd overall pick in the draft. It could be possible that James Jr. is targeting that slot. Along with that, he is also working out with the Los Angeles Lakers in a bid to join his father.

However, as Bronny James was not even considered to be ready for the NBA some weeks back, this is a bold move. Essentially betting on himself to be drafted by either of them. The Lakers’ situation is a no-brainer. Multiple reports, even from Charania suggest they want to draft him so that they can keep LeBron James around for longer.

But if the Suns were to draft him, it could result in an interesting situation. James Sr. might not instantly head to Phoenix. Instead, he might give the Lakers another shot at a title this year and then go and join Kevin Durant on a veteran minimum contract to fulfill his dream of playing alongside his son.

Fans fume at Bronny James’ choices

There were many who considered Bronny James to go back to college. Even if this year’s draft is remarkably weak, the former USC product was not seen to be any better than a second-round pick. So basketball fans were baffled as he declined to work out with potential drafting teams. They think he should have at least taken a chance to at least get into the draft.
