The new year brought along a beautiful gift for the Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback as he welcomed his newborn daughter into the world. With the announcement of the happy news, he and his wife Brittany also shared the name of their third child which made fans spot a certain pattern in the names of their three children.
As one looks closely, the Kansas City Current owners have named their children after a type of metal. The three-year-old daughter is named Sterling Skye, her two-year-old son is named Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, and now, the newest member of the clan, baby Golden Ryle.
What’s more intriguing is even their two dogs are named Steel and Silver, who surprisingly set inspiration to the couple to name their children. In an Instagram Q&A of May 2023, Brittany Mahomes was asked the reason why she has such unique and deep-meaning names for her children and the answer was their beloved dogs.
I got Steel in college and named him that. We then got our second dog and was gonna name her Sterling because it went with Steel perfect. Then I said no, I want that to be my daughter’s name, so then we came up with Silver to go with Steel.

After naming Sterling when they had a baby boy, the couple decided to keep the Mahomes naming tradition alive and named their son, ‘Patrick Mahomes III,’ as the three-time Super Bowl champion earned his name from his father, Patrick Mahomes Senior.

Originally, the Chiefs superstar had something else planned for his son, which he shared in an appearance on The Drive on Audacy’s 610 Sports Radio in 2022. He had planned “Trey” as the name for his son, but after going with the family tradition seem the right thing. But Pat Mahomes III did end up getting a unique nickname from his uncle, Jackson Mahomes.
My brother Jackson, whenever we were trying to find something that was a little unique and different, he said, ‘What about Bronze? It fits perfectly with Sterling.

The couple felt giving him the nickname ‘Bronze’ would not only give him a unique identity but also respect the family tradition and he would become Bronze while still being Patrick the Third.
