The 5-time major champion had a poor start to the day on Friday. He made 2 triple bogeys on the front nine at the 5th and 7th hole and was 6-over after playing the first nine holes. He eventually ended the round being 9-over with a score of 81.

Koepka was visibly frustrated by his performance in the opening round of LIV Golf Dallas. His temper would boil over at the 9th hole after hitting an errant tee shot.

The Smash GC captain would take his team’s name too seriously and smashed a tee box marker. He would slam his golf club onto the tee marker and then sent it flying towards the crowd. Fortunately, nobody was hurt in this incident.

The golfer would later withdraw from the event while citing illness. This is where things get a bit interesting. Unlike the PGA Tour, Koepka can return to action this weekend.

The former World No.1 is allowed to come back to play on Saturday or Sunday if he feels better. His score, however, will not be counted. It will be counted towards the team in the team standings.
