Bryan Danielson is one of the most important figures in AEW right now. He has decided to bid farewell to his full-time wrestling career at the end of this year. However, The Dragon hasn’t ruled out the possibility of joining AEW’s rival company, WWE. He did set one condition for that to happen, though, which is unlikely to be met.

While speaking on the Gorilla Position podcast, Bryan Danielson discussed the possibility of returning to WWE. The former world champion stated that he was very happy with the Jacksonville-based company. However, he mentioned that if Tony Khan‘s company were to come under full control and WWE became a ‘B’ promotion, he would consider making the jump.

Danielson wrestled his last match in WWE nearly three years ago, losing a championship vs. career match against Roman Reigns. His contract expired on May 4th, and he then joined the Jacksonville-based company. The Dragon has stated many times that he would like to retire from wrestling completely in 2024.

I would never say never, but if I would, it would have to be in a case where I felt like going there was better for the industry. Imagine in ten years, all of a sudden something happened to their creative process and they are just horrible, and AEW has completely taken over - yeah, then maybe I would consider it.

At AEW Double or Nothing, he competed in the Anarchy in the Arena match against The Elite, with Cash Wheeler, Dax Harwood, and Darby Allin as his partners. Although he lost that match, he secured a victory at the latest PPV, Forbidden Door, against Shingo Takagi. Now at AEW All In, he will challenge the current AEW World Champion, Swerve Strickland, for the title.

Bryan Danielson talked about CM Punk’s fallout with AEW and his involvment in it

After the controversial backstage altercation at AEW All In less than a year ago, CM Punk was ultimately let go by the company. Following his departure, The Best in the World made his return to WWE at the Survivor Series: WarGames PLE in November last year. Danielson, who was part of the disciplinary committee that fired him, discussed the incident in detail.

While speaking on the same podcast, The Dragon was asked about his relationship with Punk after his firing. Danielson clarified that they hadn’t had any conversations even before the disciplinary decision was made. The former world champion revealed that he was advised not to speak to Punk due to legal matters.

Honestly, I haven't spoken to him since before the decision was made. As part of the disciplinary committee, I was best told not to reach out to him, because any sort of thing like this. I want to say it was the week before All In last year, or maybe just a little before that.

Punk, meanwhile, wanted nothing to do with the Jacksonville-based company. The Second City Saint recently made his in-ring return after six long months, facing Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam, but unfortunately lost.
