Bryan Danielson is undoubtedly one of the greatest in-ring professional wrestlers of all time. He has had an accomplished career, competing all over the globe over the past 25 years. However, the 43-year-old may potentially be bringing his career to a close after his match against AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland at All In.
On the latest episode of Dynamite, Danielson and Strickland had an intense segment on the microphone. The former WWE Champion said that he had a promise to make. He vowed that if he failed to secure the AEW World Championship at All In, he would never wrestle again.
During the segment, Bryan Danielson mentioned that his AEW contract was expiring on August 1. He had promised his family that it would be the final full-time contract that he signed with any company. This statement is perhaps a sign that he will be retiring after his match in London. Having him compete on AEW’s biggest stage in front of a massive crowd at Wembley Stadium may be a perfect send-off for the wrestling veteran. Even Strickland has showered massive praise upon him.
Danielson is clearly one of AEW’s most important assets, and Tony Khan has said that he is willing to do anything to retain him in the company. Even if he does not wrestle again, he will likely stay with the company in the form of a backstage role or as an on-screen general manager.
Bryan Danielson set to face 6-time WWE Intercontinental Champion Jeff Jarrett on next week’s episode of Dynamite
After the segment between Bryan Danielson and Swerve Strickland, Renee Paquette was seen waiting backstage for an interview with The American Dragon. The 43-year-old had earned his AEW World Championship shot at Wembley after winning the Owen Hart Cup 2024. The backstage interviewer brought up how the match was now going to be a title vs. career match.
Danielson was spotted walking furiously backstage. Renee Paquette approached him for an interview and asked him for his comments regarding the segment. He ignored her after he saw Jay Lethal, Jeff Jarrett, and Jarrett’s wife and manager all clapping for him. The 57-year-old told the American Dragon that he was indeed “all in.”
Danielson slapped his hat from his hand, looking annoyed. The Owen Hart Cup winner said that if Jarrett wanted to see if he was all in, then they should go one-on-one next week on Dynamite. The 43-year-old stormed off after saying this, and the match is officially set for the next show.
