UFC featherweight Bryce Mitchell recently found himself in hot waters after he praised Adolf Hitler in a viral podcast. As expected, he was faced with a series of criticism from everywhere, including his boss Dana White. As a result, the Arkansas native had publicly apologized for his insensitive comments.

In the viral podcast, Mitchell praised Hitler by saying that he was just protecting his nation from the Jews. When asked about the situation, White blasted the fighter in a presser, calling the statements ‘stupid and ignorant.’ Michell recently shared an Instagram post where he took accountability for his words.

I’m sorry I sounded insensitive. I definitely was not trying to offend anybody, but I know I did. I know that a lot of people died in the Holocaust, and that’s a fact. Hitler did a lot of evil things, I think we can agree on that. I’m definitely not a Nazi, and definitely do not condone any of the evil things Hitler did.

In a social media post, the Arkansas fighter further mentioned that he will be careful about his choice of words about sensitive matters in the future. Mitchell has always been known for his different perspective on life and he believed that history was lying about Hitler. Many wanted White to give the fighter punishment for his comments, but the CEO respected the freedom of speech.

However, freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences and Bryce Mitchell learned it the hard way. From flat earth theory to school shootings, the featherweight fighter has always had different opinions. However, this was definitely the most outrageous one among them.

UFC veteran clears air around Bryce Mitchell’s controversial comments

In the UFC, many fighters thrive on trash-talking and giving controversial opinions to attract fans. Fighters like Sean Strickland, and Colby Covington have often crossed the line on which is moral and which is not. Dana White has ignored all such comments in various situations, but wasn’t silent in this particular incident.

UFC veteran Chael Sonnen is well known for being one of the biggest trash talkers in the promotion’s history. The former title contender has delivered many one-liners, making him a fan-favorite. However, while talking about Bryce Mitchell‘s situation, he shared an important perception.

There’s a few words that just don’t work. I had this talk with my children. There’s a few words that don’t work; one of them starts with the letter ‘N.’ Another one of them starts with the letter ‘F,’ and you can’t do Nazi and Hitler. You just can’t. You can’t make those comparisons; you can’t praise.

Mitchell’s last octagon outing was against Kron Gracie at UFC 310 where he won via KO. It was a solid comeback from his previous brutal loss against Josh Emmet. However, going forward, it would be interesting to see how ‘Thug Nasty’ gets welcomed by the fight community during his fight.
