Adam Sandler‘s Happy Gilmore 2 is up and running on Netflix. Following the release of the second part of the sports comedy film, Bryson DeChambeau released the Break 50 challenge video along with Sandler. The LIV Golfer would dub this as an “honor” and call it the “stuff of childhood dreams“.

The 1996 movie Happy Gilmore received mixed reviews from the critics and was a commercial success. It would later become a cult classic, especially in the golf community. Just like many golfers, DeChambeau grew up as a fan of this movie.

Last year, it was announced that a sequel to this movie was in development with Sandler reprising his role as Happy Gilmore. DeChambeau is also a part of this movie and played a major role in it.

On Saturday, a day after the movie was released, the 2-time major champion dropped his latest ‘Break 50’ episode. The video, which spanned over an hour, featured him and Sandler trying to shoot a score of 23-under and break 50.

Taking to his X account, DeChambeau called the experience of playing with Sandler and attempting to break 50 as one of his all-time favorite days on the course.

You’re not going to want to miss this one. Easily one of my all-time favorite days on the course. Adam makes everything so much more fun. It’s an honor just to hang with a legend like him, but a full round of golf with Happy Gilmore? That’s the stuff of childhood dreams.

During their attempt to break 50, DeChambeau would even try the ‘Happy Gilmore Swing‘. After his swing, Sandler would demonstrate how he did that unusual swing of Gilmore.

The two of them were in contention to shoot a score below 50. Following a par on the 17th hole, they carded an eagle on the par-5 18th hole to finish the round 22-under par and shoot a score of 50. They missed breaking 50 with one shot.

During the final round on Sunday, he started off with 4 pars and one birdie. At the 6th hole, though, he made a double bogey.

Despite birdies on the 10th, 15th, and 16th holes, he was unable to finish inside the top-10 and finished T11 along with Charl Schwartzel, Martin Kaymer, Sebastian Munoz, Tom McKibbin, Marc Leishmann, and Paul Casey, at 7-under par.

Speaking of the LIV Golf UK event, Joaquin Niemann walked away as the winner again. The Chilean golfer claimed his 5th win of the season on Sunday with a score of 17-under par.

DeChambeau will be part of the Ryder Cup team this year. At the moment, the golfer is inside the top-6 standings. Even if he falls out of the top-6 standings, captain Keegan Bradley has confirmed that the LIV Golfer will be part of the team.

During the premiere of Happy Gilmore 2, he would issue a warning to Rory McIlroy. The 2-time U.S. Open champion expressed that he would ‘chirp‘ at McIlroy if he gets the chance at the Bethpage Course in New York.

I’ll be chipring in his ear this time. Now, if we go up against each other, I mean you can be sure of it. I’ll get into his ear a little bit.

Bryson DeChambeau said as per People

DeChambeau and McIlroy were the final pairing at the Masters Tournament this year. During the final round at the Augusta National, McIlroy would snub his playing partner and did not speak with him at all.

After winning the tournament and finally completing the career grand slam, McIlroy defended his actions and claimed that he was not out there to be DeChambeau’s best mate. The two of them were also involved in a final-day drama at Pinehurst during the 2024 U.S. Open, where McIlroy’s late slip-up allowed DeChambeau to come back and clinch the major championship.
