The final round of the Masters Tournament saw PGA Tour star Rory McIlroy go up against one his rivals from LIV Golf, Bryson DeChambeau. After falling short with a 3-over par score in the final round, DeChambeau lauded McIlroy for his victory.

The two golfers were placed 1st and 2nd on the leaderboard after 54 holes. This meant that they were the final pairing of the final round.

DeChambeau and McIlroy went head-to-head against each other in the final round of the U.S. Open last year. The Northern Irish golfer slipped up at the end and missed two crucial putts. This saw DeChambeau muster an epic comeback and snatch the title from his hands.

This time, he was unable to repeat that feat. As he struggled in the final round, McIlroy started to go further away from him. In the end, McIlroy overcame Justin Rose in the playoff round to clinch his first win in the Masters Tournament and completed the career grand slam. DeChambeau later took to his Instagram account and opened up about his loss.

It was a battle all week, and even without my best stuff, I proved to myself that I have the ability to win this tournament one day.

He then congratulated McIlroy for winning the tournament and completing the grand slam. The Crushers GC captain expressed that he (McIlroy) ‘deserved’ to get this one.

Huge congratulations to Rory on an incredible achievement in completing the career Grand Slam of golf. He deserved to get this one.

This message from DeChambeau came a few hours later after he opened up about McIlroy’s behavior in the final round. The 2-time major champion revealed that McIlroy did not speak with him the entire day while playing alongside him.

3-time major champion left stunned by Bryson DeChambeau’s actions during final round of Masters Tournament

Bryson DeChambeau found himself in contention at the Masters once again this Sunday. On Saturday, he trailed Rory McIlroy by 2 shots. Many wondered whether he would once again upset him in a major championship. However, he did not have a good time on Sunday and finished 4 shots behind McIlroy at the end of the tournament. A 3-time major winner was left stunned by his actions.

The 31-year-old has established himself as one of the top stars on the LIV Golf tour. After McIlroy made a double bogey start on Sunday, DeChambeau found himself in the lead early on. He then proceeded to make two bogeys on the 3rd and 4th holes and slipped up.

3-time major champion Padraig Harrington was left stunned by this. The Irish golfer, who missed the cut in all 3 of his starts on the PGA Tour this year, claimed that he was surprised to see him change his personality.

Bryson’s change of personality on number three. The oddest thing ever, him laying up, he just wasn’t there for the rest of the day. He didn’t want to be the player he was at Pinehurst.

The 53-year-old also commented on DeChambeau’s comment regarding McIlroy not speaking with him during the entire day. He labeled that statement from the LIV Golfer as “weird.

Who does Bryson want to be? Could you imagine going out on the football pitch and saying about the guy marking him, ‘he wasn’t chatting to me, he wasn’t very nice to me. That was a weird one with Bryson.

Bryson DeChambeau finishes as one of the top LIV Golfers in the Masters Tournament

One of the talking points in major championships in recent years has been the performances of LIV Golfers. Since the establishment of LIV Golf, this is the only time they go up against each other. Despite not winning the event the Masters, Bryson DeChambeau was one of the top performers from the 54-hole circuit.

A total of 12 LIV Golfers participated in the Masters this year. 7 of them made the cut and played over the weekend. However, DeChambeau was one of them who seemed in contention from Round 1.

His T5 finish was the best he has ever had at the Augusta National. Surprisingly, he was not the top LIV Golf performer, though. 2018 Champion Patrick Reed stunned the golfing world with scores of 69 on Saturday and Sunday. This saw Reed finish 3rd in the standings just behind Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy with a score of 9-under for the tournament.

Meanwhile, the top three golfers in LIV Golf’s 2025 individual standings had a tough time. While Sergio Garcia missed the cut, Jon Rahm improved from his first-round score of 75 and ended the event T14. On the other hand, Joaquin Niemann, who sits on top of the rankings, came T29 with scores of 72. 74, 70, and 72.

These LIV Golfers will now be in action from April 25 to 27 as they tee off at the Club de Golf Chapultepec, Mexico. After that they will travel to South Korea and then get ready for the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow in May.
