Bryson DeChambeau is gonna remain suspended from the PGA Tour. Amid reports of several U.S. players playing one more event before the Ryder Cup, there had been talks about whether their will be an exemption for him or not.

The answer is no. The PGA Tour has decided to stick with the suspension and expressed that he is still ‘ineligible‘ to play in events directly sanctioned by the PGA Tour.

DeChambeau was one of the top names on the PGA Tour who left them and joined LIV Golf. Since then, he and his LIV league mates have not been allowed to play in PGA Tour events. The only events they play in are the 4 major championships, due to their past exemptions.

Both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf will conclude their 2025 season next week. After that, there will be several days before the biennial event kicks off at the Bethpage Course in New York.

This year, several members of the US team, including World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, are expected to play in the Procore Championship in Napa, California. As a member of LIV Golf, DeChambeau is banned from this event and will have to sit out and watch his teammates from the sidelines.

Well, he’s suspended. And that’s out of my control.

Keegan Bradley told the reporters on Thursday

DeChambeau has been one of the top performers from LIV Golf in the past two seasons. Last year, he contended in 3 majors events and won the U.S. Open to capture his 2nd major championship.

This year, he was in the final pairing at the Masters Tournament, came 2nd at the PGA Championship again, and had an incredible comeback in the Open Championship. After a score of 78 in the first round at Royal Portrush, the Crushers GC captain rallied back and finished T10 in the final major of the year.

As for LIV Golf, DeChambeau sits 3rd in the individual standings behind Jon Rahm and Joaquin Niemann with 1 win and 6 other top-10 finishes.

Social media reacts to Bryson DeChambeau still being ‘ineligible’ to play in a PGA Tour event before Ryder Cup

While reacting to this on X, several users took a swipe at the PGA Tour. Some, though, defended the organization and slammed DeChambeau for his move to LIV Golf.

Check out some of them from X below:

DeChambeau, who is ranked 17th in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) without receiving any points, does have a chance to play in an event before his teammates tee off in Napa. A week before that, he is eligible to play in the Irish Open of the DP World Tour. He, though, would require an invitation to play in this event.

Bryson DeChambeau recently expressed his desire to play regularly against some top PGA Tour names

Ever since the start of LIV Golf, some top stars like Bryson DeChambeau have gotten very few opportunities to play alongside some of the top names of the PGA Tour. Recently, the 31-year-old expressed his desire to play alongside the top names more regularly.

In an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, the 2-time major champion admitted that he would love to play against Scottie Scheffler more often. He commented on this after show host McAfee brought up the dramatic playoff finish of the FedEx St. Jude Championship this past Sunday and asked him whether he would have wished to be there.

I’d love to be playing against Scottie Scheffler as well as I think he’d love to be playing against some of us over here at certain points in time, depending on how things kind of shake out at the end. So do we need to play more? 100 percent, but at the end of the day, it is what it is.

Bryson DeChambeau said on The Pat McAfee Show

There have been talks about the potential reunification of the game of golf in the PGA Tour-PIF merger talks. However, as per Adam Scott, one of the PGA Tour player-directors, there have been no developments in this topic since the talks at the White House earlier this year. It remains to be seen whether the merger could reunify the game and bring all golfers to play under one single tour.
