Ever since Scottie Scheffler‘s rise to prominence, he has often been compared with Tiger Woods. Recently, 2-time major champion Bryson DeChambeau pointed out one skill of the World No.1 that puts him on par with Woods.

Just like Woods, Scheffler has dominated several tournaments and established himself as the one player to beat. Following a slow start this year, the American international picked up 2 major championship wins in the form of the PGA Championship and the Open Championship and completed three legs of the career grand slam.

During a recent appearance at The Pat McAfee Show alongside host Pat McAfee, DeChambeau discussed the qualities of Scheffler. In this, the LIV Golfer heaped praise on Scheffler’s distance control over the ball and claimed that it was the best they had seen since Woods.

He’s got the best spin and distance control I’ve ever seen. He controls the golf ball from a spin perspective so much better than everybody else… His distance control is the best since Tiger (Woods). Yeah, probably since Tiger, he’s the best that we’ve seen.

DeChambeau would then once again bring up his college days. The Crushers GC captain would point out that he had played against Scheffler a bunch of times before but he has improved drastically since then.

Following Scheffler’s triumph at Royal Portrush last month, DeChambeau had claimed that he was in a “league of his own” at the moment.

At the recent FedEx St. Jude Championship, Scheffler had to settle for a T3 finish as he finished the event 15-under par, 1 shot behind Justin Rose and J.J. Spaun. While Rose eventually went on to win the competition in a playoff round, Scheffler picked up his 14th top-10 finish of the year.

Bryson DeChambeau admits he would love to play against Scottie Scheffler regularly amid PGA Tour-PIF negotiations

During this appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Bryson DeChambeau admitted that he would love to play against Scottie Scheffler more regularly. These comments from him came at a time when the merger negotiations between the PGA Tour and the Public Investment Fund (PIF) had stalled.

The PGA Tour and the PIF had several discussions regarding the golf merger this year. One major aspect of the merger is the reunification of the game of golf and bringing everyone to play under one tour. Since the meeting at the White House earlier this year, the talks have not advanced as much as some would have expected.

During The Pat McAfee Show, McAfee would bring up the dramatic finish of the FedEx St. Jude Championship this week and ask DeChambeau whether he would wish to be in there. The 31-year-old nodded his head and hoped to play against the World No.1 more frequently.

I’d love to be playing against Scottie Scheffler as well as I think he’d love to be playing against some of us over here at certain points in time, depending on how things kind of shake out at the end. So do we need to play more? 100 percent, but at the end of the day, it is what it is. It’ll get figured out guys.

At the moment, DeChambeau and other LIV Golfers only face off against the top names of the PGA Tour during the 4 major championships. At the recent Open Championship, which Scheffler won, DeChambeau had a massive turnaround and finished T10 after carding a score of 78 in the first round.

As the regular season of both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf inches closer to an end, there is a chance that DeChambeau will tee off with Scheffler again this year. He currently sits 4th in the US Ryder Cup Standings and could automatically qualify for the biennial event with a top-6 finish in the upcoming days.
