The 2024 Open Championship will be held at Royal Troon Golf Club in Troon, Scotland, from July 18-21. The opening round is scheduled to commence on Thursday, July 18, at 6:30 a.m. local time. This will mark Royal Troon’s 10th time hosting golf’s original major.

Players have already started assembling at Royal Troon for the final major of the year. Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau, who gave each other cutthroat competition at the US Open this year, will be present at the tournament.

During an interview at the Open Championship, Bryson DeChambeau shared that he and Rory McIlroy have spoken for the first time since the U.S. Open.

I said hello to him yesterday, and we talked. He said congrats. So everything’s great there. He’s a fierce competitor. I know he’s going to give the fans, give everybody as much as he can this week. I’m going to be doing the same. We’re going to be competing. Hopefully, it will be another good battle.

After the US Open, McIlroy changed his phone number to avoid media inquiries about his decade-long major drought. He later revealed that he had missed text messages of support from Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, and Rafael Nadal in the aftermath.

McIlroy is motivated to bounce back. To prepare for the links conditions at Royal Troon, he played a practice round with Darren Clarke and Tom McKibbin. McIlroy acknowledged that previous major losses, like at St. Andrews in 2022, have been emotionally taxing experiences for him.
