23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace is one of the most famous NASCAR drivers in the current garage. His comparatively consistent performance on the racetrack and him being the only African American racer in the top-tier of stock car racing, makes him a valuable asset for the sport, team as well as for potential sponsors.
Over the years, though he has secured some significant feats in NASCAR, he is yet to have a moment similar to the one Tiger Woods had in golf or Lewis Hamilton had in F1, that is capable attracting more minorities to the sport. Bubba Wallace himself understands this opportunity and recently in The Break Fast Club podcast he made a bold claim on it.
He was asked what needs to happen for NASCAR to further grow into the remaining part of racing market. Wallace was quick to point out that if he can consistently win races, it will be the easiest way to attract more fans to the sport.
I need to win. There you go. I think that’s the easiest way to go about it. I need to win. Golf didn’t change too much, but Tiger [Woods] was dominant and created a lot of buzz.
Bubba Wallace told The Breakfast Club.
He highlighted how he has been able to secure just one race win in his eight-year stint in the Cup series, with one of the wins coming due to rain delay, which is unacceptable. Wallace has had string cars over the years, which he couldn’t get a win out of like the last few races, and he understand that responsibility is on his shoulders.
I’ve only had two wins in my eight years being in Cup. To me, that’s unacceptable. The way that we’ve been performing this year, last two races finishing third, two spots away from doing just that. I’ll take full responsibility in helping that.
Bubba Wallace added.
Bubba Wallace shared his thoughts on fighting in NASCAR
In the same podcast, Bubba Wallace shared his feelings about the driver’s fight in NASCAR. He himself has had a moment, when he fought Kyle Larson after wrecking him at Las Vegas in 2023. The TRD driver understand why fights happened and with the respect factor in play, he feels it is okay to have these confrontations.

You feel like you’re done wrong because I go back to the respect thing — you show up with respect and you command respect in return and sometimes, you feel like you’re shorted. You’re done wrong and for whatever reason, when I’m done wrong and I retaliate, it’s the world’s ending.
Bubba Wallace said.
He backed his argument by highlighting how he grew up learning to just get things even in such situation and how drivers easily move on from such incidents once the stream is off. Wallace seems to suggest the fans makes the fights a bigger thing than it is.
All I’m doing and what I was grown up being taught is you just get even. I’m just getting even, like, we’re good. We can shake hands after the fact. We’re good now, but massive deal.
Bubba Wallace added.
The 23XI star driver made some bold comments in his podcast appearance and it clearly shows his overall personality as well as the competitive nature. It will be interesting to see how Wallace is going to perform in the 2025 season, with momentum on his side, and will he finally end the two-year winless streak.
