The Houston Texans had the Buffalo Bills by their horns while the Pittsburgh Steelers bore the brunt of the re-surging Chicago Bears last week. After heart-wrenching losses in Week 12, the Bills and the Steelers meet at the Acrisure Stadium on Sunday evening to prevent setting off a streak.
The Sunday game would be the 31st time the two teams will meet. They have previously played each other in 26 regular-season games and 4 postseason games.
The Steelers have the upper hand in the matchup, winning 17 of the 30 head-to-head games. However, in the past five encounters, the Steelers have only won once against the Bills. This game would be Josh Allen‘s first time against four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers as a MVP awardee himself.
Allen and Rodgers have dueled five times, and the former has won three of those five games. As the two stumble into Pittsburgh this week, there are several storylines to keep an eye on.
The Steelers reclaimed the division lead after Joe Burrow crushed the Baltimore Ravens on the Thanksgiving Classic. The Steelers had lost it when the Bears mauled them last week. As the playoff race tightens, the Steelers will want to hold on to their division lead, especially since their current record would place them no higher than the final wild-card spot without it.
A loss would further expedite the Bills’ woes. They also slip back and inch closer to losing the division for the first time in five years. With a lot at stake, the Bills-Steelers showdown is a must-watch for any NFL fan.

Why can the Bills win?
Josh Allen is known for being a dangerous quarterback. Just two weeks ago, Allen became the first-ever quarterback in the post-merger era to have multiple games with more than 3 rushing and passing touchdowns in a single game. He can single-handedly inflict that kind of damage upon opposing teams, and that’s what put him up for the MVP last year.
With the Bills’ playoff chances on the line, Allen needs to start showing up consistently, and that can be a reason for the Steelers to be a bit afraid.

The Steelers’ run defense is fifteenth in the league, while the Bills enter the matchup as the second-best rushing offense. James Cook is just behind Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts in most rushing yards, running for 1084 yards and eight touchdowns.
Why can the Steelers triumph?
The key to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ win would be the defense. Josh Allen was sacked for a career-high eight times in the last game’s loss to the Houston Texans. The easiest way to win on Sunday evening would be for the defense to come through and capitalize on the Bills’ weakening O-Line. In addition to the existing troubles, Allen continues to lack the services of Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown.
The Pittsburgh Steelers can also capitalize on the Bills’ almost absent run defense. The Bills have given up 197 yards to the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Weeks 10 and 11, while adding another 108 to the overall tally in Houston. They are ranked 30th in rushing yards allowed, 31st in average yards-per-carry allowed, and last in touchdown runs allowed.
They are also expected to have the services of Aaron Rodgers, who’s returning after sitting out the Bears game due to a wrist issue. Kenneth Gainwell and Jaylen Warren have emerged as a running back duo, a relief for the Steelers’ offense.
