John Cena will have his WrestleMania swansong this April. It’s been already stressed enough how pivotal it is for WWE to get his opponent right. Recent reports lean toward it being Cody Rhodes. Offering his two cents on this rumored Cena vs. Rhodes showdown, Bully Ray joined David LaGreca on the Busted Open Radio podcast.

The one-half of The Dudley Boyz picked Cody as the winner over Cena. It’d reduce the latter to shambles, and John would be sitting in the middle of the ring with his head down, envisioned Bully. Ray continued saying that the Peacemaker star would deny taking help from Cody to get up.

Eventually, The Cenation Leader will remove his boots and hand them over to The American Nightmare. Now that’d be unprecedented if it happens. Bully Ray affirmed that he has yet to see anything like that inside the squared circle. The 53-year-old tag team specialist believes it’d put the final stamp of approval on Rhodes. The former AEW EVP has already claimed that wrestling John would be the honor of his life.

Cody versus Cena. Cody wins….he’s [Cena] upset with himself that he lost, this was his opportunity to break the record, this was probably his last WrestleMania…….

Fightful reported that plans to have the Ricky Stanicky actor taking on Cody were materialized back in November. It was after WWE had become aware of The Rock‘s lopsided commitment for WrestleMania 41. For months, The Great One was earmarked to take center stage with The Prodigal Son. However, that’s been scrapped.

What the fans witnessed on the Netflix premiere of Raw only dimmed the possibility of Rock vs. Cody. The Final Boss buried the hatchet with Dusty Rhodes‘ son and was even messing around with him, taking shots of tequila. All eyes are now on Cena as he tries to do the unthinkable in the 30-man Royal Rumble match next month.

John Cena’s father not on board with his son’s rumored WrestleMania plans

The fans are still divided on if they’d be at solace if John Cena does eventually take on Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania. Because there’s one more world champion to look at. And his name is Gunther.

There’s a big chunk of the WWE Universe that’s hoping that The Ring General gets the preference against Cena over Cody at Mania. And guess what? John’s father thinks likewise. He recently told Bill Apter on the WrestleBinge podcast that he wants the Austrian to square off with his son at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

But considering the grandiosity of Cena vs. Rhodes, it might get a nod from the top brass of WWE. In that case, the burning question would still circle around John’s chances of becoming a 17-time World Champion.
