Trick Williams continued his rivalry with Ethan Page on the recent NXT PLE, Halloween Havoc. He defended his NXT Championship against the former AEW star in a Devil’s Playground match. Things got chaotic towards the end of the show, especially with a special appearance from Bully Ray.
Trick Williams eventually retained his championship after hitting a Trickshot on his challenger. However, after the bell rang, the 30-year-old was attacked by Ridge Holland, who had won an ambulance match against Andre Chase earlier in the night. This soon turned into a two-on-one attack against the NXT Champion before Ray came to make the save.
Bully Ray entered the ring and started beating down the heels on his own. He threw Holland and Page out of the ring and stood tall in the center as the two men walked up the ramp. Ray then stared the two men down as he helped Williams up to his feet.
Ray was last seen at a WWE event earlier this year at WrestleMania XL. He acted as a special guest referee in a Philadelphia Street Fight match between The Pride and The Final Testament. Although there was a hilarious botch during the match, the Philly crowd certainly loved seeing a local legend live in action.
Bully Ray explains why he got involved at NXT Halloween Havoc, teases match with Ridge Holland
Shortly after his involvement at NXT Halloween Havoc, the Busted Open Radio X account posted a video of Bully Ray talking to Dave LaGreca about his actions. The former TNA World Champion said that Shawn Michaels came by his podcast last week and invited them to attend the PLE. That is why he was seen in the crowd earlier during the show. Furthermore, he appreciated the Heartbreak Kid for giving him a platform on the pre-show and putting the crew into the public eye.

Ray believed that Ridge Holland wanted to make a name for himself at their expense. He understood this the first time but told the English wrestler not to let it happen again. Thus, when Holland joined Ethan Page at the end of the night to outnumber Trick Williams, that angered the Hall of Famer.
I got fans all around me saying, ‘Bubba, please help him out.’ What am I supposed to do? So yeah, tonight was enough, and you know how I feel about Trick. I thought Trick went out there and did a great job tonight, showed fighting spirit [and] got the win. Ridge, I’m not hard to find.
