Chad Gable has undergone a complete character change since April. The 38-year-old has become ruthless in his hunt for the Intercontinental Championship. This has caused him to be borderline abusive towards his stablemates. His incredible character work has been appreciated by multiple people in the industry, including Bully Ray.

After the most recent episode of Raw, Ray made an appreciation post for the former Olympian after his segment went off the air. The hardcore legend claimed that when the bully character is played the right way, it can turn anyone and everyone into a hero. He commended Gable for the job that he had been doing.

The 52-year-old had made a career out of playing that type of character during his stint in TNA. To receive such praise from Bully Ray himself goes to show how incredible Gable’s character skills are, along with his in-ring prowess. 

The recent episode of Raw witnessed the 38-year-old and his abusive character in action. After an attack on Sami Zayn, Gable slapped Otis for his insubordination. When Akira Tozawa pulled him away from his wrestling partner, he did not hold back from taking out his frustration on the Japanese wrestler either.

Vince Russo criticizes WWE’s booking of Chad Gable

Despite being one of, if not the most gifted, in-ring superstars on the roster, WWE’s booking of Chad Gable in the past has been nothing short of horrendous. The Minnesota wrestler was initially packaged as ‘Shorty G,’ a gimmick given to him purely because of his height.

When Gable moved on to become the leader of Alpha Academy, many found his stint entertaining. Although, the gimmick kept him far away from success as a singles superstar. Vince Russo did not agree with this booking, as voiced by him on the Legion of Raw show.

Vince Russo claimed that the person with the most heat at the moment was Chad Gable. He had heat after repeatedly beating and insulting his teammates. He was incredible in the ring, and there was no question about it. The former WWE writer opined that his ‘Shoosh’ gimmick was ridiculous and stupid. However, his current role fits him extremely well.
