Pablo Carreno Busta fired off a stunning quarterfinal against Denis Shapovalov and is all set for the semifinals against Daniil Medvedev. Having bagged a seat in his second US Open semifinal, he has held the fort for the country in Rafael Nadal’s absence.
Post Spaniard’s victory in the third round match past week, Aussie tennis player, Nick Kyrgios criticised Busta in a tweet which was deleted soon after.
He wrote, “If clay didn’t exist. Dude wouldn’t have even been close to top 50.”

On Nick’s controversial statement, Pablo stated, “He must be pretty bored… when he comes back to tournaments, we will talk about him because he deserves it and in the meantime, well nothing, he will continue to tweet from home,” a quoted by Sports.es.
Unfortunately enough for Nick, his statistics stand poles apart from the facts. Busta’s winning percentage is way better on hard courts than the clay surface, with three hardcourt titles victory against one on clay in Estoril, Portugal.
Busta advances to his face-off against Zverev at the Arthur Ashe stadium. With both players aiming for their first Grand Slam, the fans regard them as the future of Tennis. Meanwhile, the other semifinal witnesses a contest between Thiem and Medvedev, both of whom have fallen short at the last step in their previous Major finals.
