Caitlin Clark is generally a happy-go-lucky athlete who draws joy from the game of basketball and being around friends, family, and her teammates.

The Iowa native is a self-described goofy person who likes to joke around whenever she is amongst people that she likes. There are enough tales about how she is constantly giggling and poking fun at others.

For such a jovial person who generally flashes her trademark smile, the controversies surrounding her in the WNBA bring Clark to a point where her smile just does not come out that often.

In her third season, the superstar was hoping to build on her illustrious career. But the events of the past few weeks have threatened to dampen what has been a career season for her so far.

There’s gonna be people that love you, there’s gonna be people that hate you. It probably means you’re doing something right. None of that really affects me… At the end of the day, if you don’t like me, my life’s still gonna go on… You gotta have thick skin to be in a position like this, and I think I have that too.

Caitlin Clark told reporters

This was a 24-year-old letting the room full of reporters know that she is aware that not everyone has to like her, and she is fine with it. No matter what they say, it does not affect Caitlin Clark, as she has the ability to compartmentalize and ignore what does not need to be heard.

In the past, she has made it clear that she is aware of most of the noise that surrounds her and the league. Therefore, her answer was to remind her haters that she does not care.

Caitlin Clark will team up with A’ja Wilson again on All-Star team

Apart from the controversies she has had to deal with, there was one particular instance of rival players voting her the 11th-best guard in the league that ticked off many people.

Thankfully, fan and media votes ensured that the Fever star will be starting the 2026 All-Star Game. Last year, she sat out after struggling with her soft-tissue injuries.

This year, even though she is still recovering from her back issues, it seems the Hawkeyes’ great will be suiting up to play against other All-Stars in Chicago.

From the pool of selected players, two WNBA legends, Teresa Weatherspoon and Cynthia Cooper, selected players to their two teams. As GM of Team Spoon, the former New York Liberty point guard lost the coin toss that determined the draft order.

Since Paige Bueckers received the most fan votes, Cooper got the Dallas Wings star to feature in her team. That meant the second-highest vote-getter, in this case, Caitlin Clark, went to Team Spoon.

But from then on, the order of selection was reversed. With her next pick, Weatherspoon did not waste time selecting A’ja Wilson. That means that the Aces superstar will again be a part of the same team Clark is on. Unlike last year, the two will share the court for the first time.

Caitlin Clark will have a tough time deciding who to pass to

It so happens that along with A’ja Wilson, Teresa Weatherspoon also selected Aliyah Boston as one of her starters. That means the onus will be on Caitlin Clark to decide who she wants to pass the ball to most of the time.

If Wilson were not there, no one would bat an eyelid if the point guard sent the ball towards her Fever teammate. But since the four-time league MVP will be on the floor, Clark will have a tough time deciding who to pass to.

There is a way out for the Fever guard, and that is if she can convince Team Spoon head coach Cheryl Reeve to play off the ball. The Lynx coach might have had some aggressive reactions towards questions about Clark in the past, but it seems that phase is over.

With Olivia Miles as a fellow starter, Clark could do herself a world of good if she convinces Reeve to give her Lynx point guard playmaking duties. That way, they can avoid any potential issues.
