“Voter needs to be fired!” – Caitlin Clark faces BRUTAL fate as LeBron James after missing unanimous ROTY; fans react
Caitlin Clark misses out on unanimous WNBA Rookie of the Year voting just as LeBron James after Angel Reese garners one vote.
Caitlin Clark misses unanimous selection as WNBA Rookie of the Year just as LeBron James
Even before Caitlin Clark stepped into the WNBA, many had already declared her the future Rookie of the Year. But after a few games, she seemed to struggle with the physicality and the athleticism of her opponents. At that time, fellow rookie Angel Reese was seen as the frontrunner. Now, after the season ended, Reese managed to upset the Indiana Fever star’s cart, even though her campaign ended early.
It is not that the Chicago Sky rookie won the Rookie of the Year. Her incredible record setting rebounds ensured she was in the running until her season ending injury. Around that time, Caitlin Clark had elevated her game enough to run away with the lead in the race.
She was without a doubt going to win the Rookie of the Year award, which she did. But Angel Reese received one vote for her efforts.
That one vote took away the chance for the Indiana Fever rookie to be the unanimous selection. It could have cemented a legacy of her own. But instead, she will never be regarded as one of the few unanimous Rookie of the Year winners. That is despite her winning the Associated Press’ Unanimous Rookie of the Year.

It is similar to what NBA superstar LeBron James faced in his rookie season. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar went on to have an all-time great career, which he still continues to this day. The 22-year-old WNBA phenom might also be on a similar trajectory to the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. But even then, taking away the chance to create a legacy was brutal.
Fans take their fury out after Caitlin Clark misses a chance to create history
Fans of women’s basketball, new or old, were in a state of shock. They could not understand how that one voter upset the cart and denied the record setting rookie a chance to cement her legacy.
Giving that one vote for Angel Reese, who after the Olympics break was left in the dust by her college rival, did not make sense to fans. They felt the second half of the season made it clear that Caitlin Clark was above anyone else.
In fact, most fans felt other rookies overtook Reese in the second half of the season. Casting a shadow over that one voter who felt differently. Clark ending with 66 out of 67 votes, has fans raging on social media, examples of which are below;
That voter needs to be fired from the W immediately

And some idiot voted for Angel Reece out of spite so Caitlin wouldn’t be unanimous.

I love Angel's game but that is just embarassing. Whoever had that vote should be identified and kicked from participating.

Fire the voter who didn't make it unanimous. Just bullshit petty games and why this league struggles to grow
— Pam (@lilkasperss) October 3, 2024
One idiot who didn’t deserve a vote obviously… She was 1000% the unanimous ROTY

66 out of 67 votes. Can you imagine the year Michael Jordan wins Rookie of the Year that they give a vote to Sam Bowie because he got a lot of rebounds

That’s embarrassing, #WNBA.

Make that voter public ASAP! pic.twitter.com/egp19Wpxim
Whoever voted for Reese at 1 needs to be fired. ?

Caitlin Clark might not be too worried about all that. Time and again she has made it clear that she does not bother much about accolades.
Instead, focuses on winning alongside her Indiana Fever teammates. With one full offseason to develop her game, the rest of the WNBA might have to watch out for her.
