Caitlin Clark ‘HATER’ Sheryl Swoopes removed from calling Fever game amid ROTY controversy

Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark continues to be disregarded by WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are going red hot in the WNBA. The only team with a 4-game winning streak is pushing everybody to sit up and take notice. Even those who were skeptical earlier in the season about her college performances translating to the pros. As almost everyone is accepting the reality, one Sheryl Swoopes is still in denial. So much so that she refuses to even talk about the rookie.

It seems that has come to the notice of the league and broadcasters as revealed by Stephen A. Smith and Nancy Lieberman. While talking about it on the Stephen A. Smith Show, the ESPN analyst said:

What incriminates somebody like Sheryl Swoopes even more, who by the way was supposed to be calling the game with y'all yesterday. She did not call the game. I know what bosses do when they see when your personal feelings whatever they may be, infiltrating the proceedings and compromising your position as a professional.

Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman was brought in to call the game between the Dallas Wings and the Indiana Fever. A job that was originally meant for Sheryl Swoopes.

As Stephen A. Smith reiterated it became all too evident for producers that Swoopes had an agenda against Caitlin Clark. When calling games live, a commentator cannot be biased against any single player or team. One can relay personal opinions on other mediums. But not while on a network.

This could just be the start. Smith pointed out previously that Sheryl Swoopes was only making it difficult for her. Her hatred towards the Indiana Fever is apparent. Not just in the way she keeps mentioning Angel Reese as the WNBA ROTY, but also in the way she disregards Clark.

Caitlin Clark’s performances push Indiana Fever to 4th

In their recently updated ROTY rankings, ESPN again placed Angel Reese above Caitlin Clark. That was as usual bombed with comments as fans were witnessing what was transpiring on the court. Setting that aside, ESPN has released an updated Power Ranking that justifies the performances on the court.

The 6-1 record since the return of the regular season has catapulted the Indiana Fever up to 4th. Even above the likes of back-to-back WNBA champions the Las Vegas Aces. It may play out differently in the playoffs, but power rankings are based on a few attributes. Recent performances and the potential to change their final seedings help in defining the rankings.

That is to say that if the Indiana Fever can continue their momentum, and the Las Vegas Aces continue to struggle, the impact on standings could be similar to what this power ranking shows. The Fever will play their next six games at home. An opportune situation to continue stunning the basketball world.
