Caitlin Clark’s HEATED argument damages relationship between WNBA legends Sheryl Swoopes and Nancy Lieberman

Differing opinions on Caitlin Clark has led WNBA legends Sheryl Swoopes and Nancy Lieberman to forego relationship

Last season, the WNBA was on its annual decline in viewership as the league was still trying to figure out how to increase its exposure. Fast forward to this year, and it is a whole different world. The presence of rookie Caitlin Clark has transformed the fortunes of the league and her Indiana Fever team with the regular season yet to finish. That transformation has brought out a lot of appreciation from many. While also leaving some like Sheryl Swoopes and Nancy Lieberman divided.

WNBA Hall of Famer Swoopes has been in the news recently for her apparent hatred towards the rookie. That led to another legend Lieberman to call her out for that ignorance. Swoopes, it seems isn’t budging and went after Lieberman with a message on her official X.

Now here you go! I get what you trying to do wit ya boy Stephen A. Smith but it ain't working. You know good and well what happened. And ditto...my life is good without you too (and him). You wanna go there?
Sheryl Swoopes wrote on X

This was a rebuttal to a video that shows Lieberman revealing how she called Swoopes to change her stat-altering arguments against Clark. The 66-year-old claimed that Swoopes has avoided her since.

Nancy Liberman revealed on the Stephen A. Smith Show that Sheryl Swoopes did not appreciate her calling her out. Since then, their relationship has been frosty leaving Lieberman to claim she did not mind if Swoopes was not part of her life going forward.

The 3-time Olympic gold medalist reciprocated that feeling. Suggesting that she is better off without Liebermann in her life. In a world where women athletes were known to unite on a lot of issues, has turned for the worst with their divided opinion on Caitlin Clark.

Sheryl Swoopes continues her tirade at Nancy Lieberman and Stephen A. Smith

Sheryl Swoopes is not backing down from her opinion of the Indiana Fever rookie. At the same time, she wants other WNBA players to be a part of the limelight. She used another example of Nancy Lieberman’s one-sided approach to highlight this problem. She reshared a post from after the body-checking incident earlier in the season.

Stephen A. Smith, you forgot to ask her about this.
Sheryl Swoopes added

She was suggesting that the ESPN analyst did not confront the stance Lieberman has towards other players who have issues with Caitlin Clark. Instead, she feels that they are ganging up on Clark’s haters.

That brings Swoopes into the forefront as she has been seen as being the leader of the Caitlin Clark hate brigade. During the body-checking incident, it was someone else. Now Swoopes feels big media is bringing her into the fold for showing a distaste for the ROTY favorite.

This entire situation goes to show that the 4-time WNBA champion does have the right to hold her opinion. These messages suggest that she sure wants the media to focus on what others also say, as she feels they have also been responsible for this divide.
