Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever returned to winning ways on Thursday night. There has been some criticism and doubts surrounding the club after a slow start to the 2026 campaign.
The Fever were under some pressure heading into the game against Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream as they were coming off consecutive losses last week. In the end, they came out on top as they secured an 83-71 victory over the Dream at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse Arena.
Clark spoke about the team’s morale after the win while speaking to the media.
I’m gonna say this in the nicest way possible, but hopefully it makes a lot of people just be quiet. I know there’s always going to be conversation, and I totally respect that, and I always understand that, but the sky is not falling.

Caitlin Clark could not have asked for a better time to turn things around and get a morale boost as it came against Angel Reese. Many believe that the two WNBA stars will have the biggest rivalry for years to come.
Their impact off the court is already there for everyone to see, as they have collectively brought in millions of fans into the WNBA. Their influence, which has led to the growth of the league, has seen a hike in salaries from this year.
It was an important win for the Fever, who upped their game from the second quarter and never looked back. The win sees the Fever climb to third place in the Eastern Conference standings, while the Dream remain at the top of the standings.
Caitlin Clark records another win over Angel Reese
There was a lot of hype surrounding the match as it saw Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese go head-to-head for the first time this season. Reese has seen a good start to her life in her new club, while Clark and the Fever have not had the best of starts to the campaign.
Clark had a poor game last week against the Portland Fire. She scored just six points and shot at below 15% from the field. While her efficiency was not much better on Thursday night as she shot at just 35%, she did record 17 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists in 31 minutes.
Meanwhile, Reese posted another double-double this season, scoring 11 points to go with 10 rebounds and 2 blocks. It was Clark’s fifth win over Reese in their six encounters during the regular season.
Unfortunately, Reese’s double-double performance was not enough to get her team over the hump, as Clark’s teammate Kelsey Mitchell was the star of the show. Mitchell scored a game-high 25 points and was the best player on the court as she crossed 5,000 career points in the WNBA.
Caitlin Clark and Stephanie White embrace during Fever’s win
There has been a lot of talk and noise surrounding Caitlin Clark and Fever head coach Stephanie White over the last few days. It is never a good look to see the star player and head coach go at it in public.
White benched Clark in their previous game against Portland. However, the decision led to a heated altercation between the two that caught the attention of several people.

Rumors about their tense relationship were debunked after Clark was seen embracing her coach during their win. After the game, Clark joked that she could’ve hurt White with the chest bump, but it was out of passion.
She’s had a lot of surgeries. So, I could’ve hurt her honestly. We were both just hyped and that shit — excuse me — my mom’s gonna be mad about (my profanity). Hopefully she doesn’t see that.

The win seemed to have changed the atmosphere surrounding the club. It was a much-needed win for White and Clark. All seems well as they downplayed any rifts between them.
