A Caitlin Clark stalker has been arrested in Indianapolis after police found a long stream of Twitter messages
Caitlin Clark has been forced to change her appearance in public after being accosted by a stalker. The accused, a 55-year-old man from Denton, Texas is said to have sent her threatening tweets.
Michael Lewis, the man arrested by Indianapolis PD on these charges, could face up to 6 years of prison time on these felony stalking charges. According to investigators, Lewis had moved from his hometown in Texas to Indianapolis.
The accused has been allegedly found sending threatening messages to Caitlin Clark on Twitter. One of the texts from the court document read ‘Been driving around your house 3x a day. But donât call the law just yet, , the public is allowed to drive by gainbridge…aka Caitlinâs Fieldhouse‘. Another read ‘they said I was sending threatening texts…but the only though (sic) on my mind was…CAITLIIIIIIIIIIIINNNN’
Mr Lewis was traced to an Indianapolis hotel and was stated to believe himself to be in an ‘imaginary relationship’ with Clark. Caitlin Clark, who’s currently dating Butler basketball coach Connor McCaffery, was unnerved by these events.
The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year told police that she had to change her appearance in an attempt to avoid this stalker.
WNBA Twitter reacts to Caitlin Clark stalker’s arrest
Given the massive amount of hype and following around Caitlin, the odds of her being followed around by mentally ill or toxic fans were always plausible. Clark has, after all, become the face of a new woman’s sports league entering the mainstream.
WNBA Twitter has been successful in identifying Michael Lewis’ Twitter account. Their findings make for ghastly, sinister reading. In particular, his replies to tweets from Ms Caitlin Clark’s account are particularly concerning.
Caitlin Clark’s fan club, who style themselves as CCFC, are also aghast at the lack of comments from her WNBA peers. A fan wondered why the league which portrays itself as a bastion of support hasn’t spoken up yet about her experience.
Another fan pointed to how Caitlin had kept news about the sport ahead of her own self all year long. He noted how Clark had been able to keep the negative noise low with her approach.
