“Needs a piece of league ownership” – Caitlin Clark wipes the floor with over 1 million viewers compared to rest of WNBA
The WNBA saw Caitlin Clark draw in more than a million viewers on an average to Indiana Fever games, three times more than other teams.

Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark drew more than a million viewers to the WNBA
The last time the WNBA had games with more than a million views it was during former great Candace Parker‘s rookie season. She was a phenom coming in from college and the sporting world wanted to watch the superstar in action. Then onwards, the league was in a steady decline in terms of viewers. With Caitlin Clark coming in, more than a million viewers became a common part of the league again.
But just like in Parker’s case, some doubted if the league could sustain the hype. Her first few games were disastrous enough to fan the flames of those doubts. But as she continued to improve her play and gave fans the entertainment they sought, viewers continued to tune in at incredibly high rates.
Michael Mulvihill of Fox Sports came up with the final numbers of average viewership in the WNBA this season. The average number of viewers who tuned in to watch games featuring Caitlin Clark stands at 1.178 million. The average for the rest of the league is 394k. That is a nearly three-fold difference and shows that the Indiana Fever rookie has justified her hype.
It is not a secret that her stardom has helped improve the viewership numbers across the board. The stark difference shows that she has been the biggest draw. Ticket prices for her games, opponents forced to move to larger arenas, etc. all prove that her impact is exponential.
Caitlin Clark leading the WNBA in viewership by a massive margin has fans in splits
Before Caitlin Clark set foot in the WNBA, the league was bereft with losses. So much so that team owners force the players association to accept a lower package to keep the league afloat. This year the teams and the league are going to end up with much higher revenue than before. All because a certain 22-year-old from Iowa decided to lace up in the league. Fans know this reality and have witnessed the turnaround.
They know the reason is solely because of her impact. Fans took to social media to appreciate her and talk about the stark difference. Check out some of those reactions below:
If she continues to draw people in at this rate, it might not be long before the WNBA decides to renegotiate the media rights they just signed. There is a possibility that she pushes the league to higher numbers than the NBA.
