A'ja Wilson's dominating 2023 WNBA finals games cannot match with the ticket prices of Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever's 1st playoff game

Everyone in the sporting world knows the impact Caitlin Clark has had on the WNBA. The league has had a transformational year as millions of new fans poured in to watch the rookie play. Even if her initial games were disappointing, she picked up the pace to become one of the best. Now as she is about to lead her Indiana Fever into the playoffs, her impact off the court has come to the forefront.

TickPick, a ticketing service entrusted with the sales and distribution of tickets for WNBA games revealed that the average price for the tickets of the Indiana Fever vs Connecticut Sun playoff game 1 stands at $133. It is a remarkable number considering the average price for the 2023 WNBA Finals was $131. However, the astonishing part is that the $131 is the total of the average prices for all four games of the Finals. It goes to show that Caitlin Clark is drawing fans in despite the ridiculously high for the WNBA price points.

A’ja Wilson and the bruised Las Vegas Aces had a brilliant underdog story against the New York Liberty in those finals. The games did sell out, but the ticket price difference shows that fans are not afraid of the prices when it comes to Clark and her Fever. She happens to be that much of a bigger draw than arguably the best player and team’s four games worth of tickets.

Tickets are already scarce, and it is expected that fans will pack the Mohegan Sun Arena. The highest ticket prices are unknown but even now 4th and 5th row seats from the court are going for over $3000. It adds to the narrative that her presence has transformed the league.

Caitlin Clark and inexperienced Fever to go up against season Sun

Among all battles in the first round of the WNBA playoffs, only the Indiana Fever starters have zero postseason experience. On the other hand, the Connecticut Sun boasts players who have been regulars in the postseason. They know how to play and when to dial up the intensity.

That intensity will be interesting to watch as Caitlin Clark and the Fever will most likely be in react mode from the first whistle. She will go up against her rival and one of the best defenders in the game DiJonai Carrington. The playoffs do bring out the best from the best players. Many championships have been defined by such performances. However, with no playoff experience, the Indiana Fever starting five will be on their own.

It almost makes them the dark horses entering this three-game series. If they can understand the game and get one win in the first two games, the third game will be back at home. The last time the Sun visited Indiana, they had to leave the state empty-handed.
