Apart from the controversies surrounding Caitlin Clark, the earliest was when many questioned her on-court behavior after repeated confrontations with officials, and even her head coach.

The superstar point guard is known for her swagger, which she uses to motivate her whenever she needs a spark. When things go well, she continues to work with those actions and usually ends with her having a great night.

However, when things do not go as planned, those actions tend to flip towards the negative side. Clark has often clashed with officials when a call does not go in her direction.

The most recent example was when she aggressively confronted an official for not calling a foul. She did not earn a reprimand at the time, as the referee chose to calm the Fever superstar instead of making it worse with a technical foul.

At the time, fans pointed out that this was the part that had frustrated many, suggesting that the Iowa native does not know how to channel her behavior when things do not go her way.

Then, when things were indeed going her way, Clark again resorted to her complaining nature. This time, the official straight away hit her with a technical foul. When asked whether she got an explanation for it, she said:

I just yelled at him to call it. Obviously, it was a pretty quick technical, but whatever.

Caitlin Clark replied

After this, James Boyd asked the guard whether she was going to change her approach to the game since she is two techs away from a suspension. To this, Clark simply replied with a ‘No.’ Her smile while saying so confirmed that she will not change her ways no matter what.

Hall of Famer believes Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell can be the two stars on the Fever

Apart from the criticisms about her on-court behavior, Caitlin Clark‘s naysayers have been hard at work trying to paint Kelsey Mitchell as the Indiana Fever’s most important player. When Cynthia Cooper appeared on the Road Trippin’ Show, she said this about the dynamic duo.

My point is, there is nothing wrong with Kelsey being your go-to player, and Caitlin being your star. It doesn’t take away from Caitlin’s ability to do everything on the court.

Cynthia Cooper said

The Hall of Famer pointed out that it was perfectly alright if the Fever designed plays to maximize Mitchell’s incredible scoring ability. At the same time, it is also ok to paint the 24-year-old as the team’s face.

Cooper added that with Clark’s ability to create and score, the Fever has the best backcourt combination in the league. Therefore, it is perfectly fine to maximize the two together, as that has proven to bring them success.

Caitlin Clark speaks highly of Kelsey Mitchell

Caitlin Clark went off against the Seattle Storm and scored 45 points, while also dishing out 10 assists. The very next day, it was Kelsey Mitchell’s turn. The veteran guard torched the New York Liberty with a 33-point effort.

The Fever ended up winning the second by 20 points, as it seemed that the visitors gave up when they saw how the 30-year-old was performing. When her backcourt teammate was asked about that performance, and particularly her uncomfortable reactions when receiving praise, Clark said:

Everybody across the league knows how talented she is. As her teammate, it makes it really fun to watch her every single day. She makes the game of basketball look really easy… She’s just a humble individual, very soft-spoken.

Such answers prove why this duo happens to work well with each other. One may be outspoken, which is why the shy one does her job on the court. Most importantly, both know how talented the other is, and they make best use of their skills in devastating fashion, as was evident in this Liberty win.
