In the first playoff game, the Boston Celtics, who are the team’s overwhelming favorite, defeated the Miami Heat 114-94.

Although the Celtics played a fantastic game, particularly with Jayson Tatum having a great game, Caleb Martin’s foul on Tatum at the end of the game left Celtics commentator Brian Scalabrine wondering why.

Caleb Martin fouled Jayson Tatum with just one minute remaining in the game to make it official. The ensuing foul led Celtics analyst Brian Scalabrine to criticize both the foul and Erik Spoelstra’s last-minute change of tactics. It wasn’t the greatest play by the Heat, in his opinion, and he thought Martin’s foul was “shady.”

I am not trying to start nothing here, but Erik Spoelstra called a timeout with 1:30 down, by 16, 30 seconds later that play happens. 30 seconds later? Why have you called a timeout at 1:30 down 16? Why is that play happening 30 seconds later... that looked shady to me. To me it's dirty play. I think Martin should get suspended for that.
Speaking In Post-game NBC Boston Sports, Brian Scalabrine said

From the timeout and the subsequent foul, Scalabrine was trying to convey that everything was prearranged and that the foul was intended to occur. Even though there is no concrete evidence to support it, Martin committed a heinous act, and the subsequent acts featuring Jalen Brown were merely the play’s intense moments.

Caleb Martin regarding his direct physical contact with Jayson Tatum

The Miami Heat’s Caleb Martin hasn’t played well lately, and his exchange with Jayson Tatum after a defeat has garnered a lot of media attention. It’s clear that the foul was not particularly serious, and everyone—from the Heat coach to the coach of the Celtics—reacted to it. Martin has now spoken about the foul he committed against Tatum.

That's just the playoffs. You know it's going to be physical. That's the type of game you want. It's that time of year where everything does pick up, intensity picks up, and physicality picks up. No matter what, we have got to stay focused.
Speaking in the post-game interview, Caleb Martin said

While it is true that in a game like this, fouls sometimes occur and occasionally adjustments are made, it is encouraging to note from Martin’s remarks that he is not taking the incident personally.

He is concentrating more on their upcoming match on April 24. The following game will be exciting to watch because neither team will be going back.
