Cameron Brink wants Caitlin Clark to take a vacation

Caitlin Clark and Cameron Brink have shared a close bond since their college days. The 2024 draft first and second-overall picks’ relationship goes beyond basketball. During a recent episode of the ‘Straight to Cam’ podcast, the LA Sparks star told Clark to take a long vacation before the WNBA season starts. Caitlin Clark was reportedly asked to join the three-point contest during the 2025 NBA All-Star game.

But the star refused as her priority was the WNBA’s All-Star event. While discussing the topic, Cameron Brink fully supported the decision, unlike her podcast partner Sydel Curry-Lee. The 23-year-old explained her side about an NBA player visiting the WNBA instead but concluded that Clark needed a break. “She needs a break. I’m like texting her. ‘You need to take a vacation for three months‘,” Cameron Brink said.

Clark is present almost everywhere, even though the WNBA is in the offseason. As the star has already canceled her NBA debut, Brink wants her friend to utilize this time for herself. The LA forward also admitted that Clark is ‘always in the gym’ working hard. The Indiana guard was overwhelmed with attention in her rookie her. Now, that she passed that, Brink believes Clark does not need more eyes on her.

The Indiana Fever is hosting this year’s WNBA All-Star weekend. The Rookie of the Year is likely giving priority to that. However, Brink also stated that CC is focused on the upcoming season. The WNBA season starts in May and Clark will play her second season with the Fever. The 6’4″ LA star might as well return from injury.

Cameron Brink is tired of the Caitlin Clark WNBA rookie narrative

Caitlin Clark and Cameron Brink have shown their incredible off-court bond through thick and thin situations. While the Sparks forward had to face the heartbreaking season-ending injury, CC sympathized with her. Alternately, when Brink announced her engagement with her longtime boyfriend, Clark was there again to show her support.

It is only fair that Brink also returns the favor from time to time. Many doubted and criticized Clark’s decision to not participate in the NBA three-point contest. But the former Stanford star stood by her draft mate. This is not the first time Brink sided with Clark. Back in May while speaking about the rookie standards, the forward revealed being tired of the rookie standards.

The narrative that the rookies need to be perfect. I feel like Caitlin Clark has that the worst right now, but even I get that.

Cameron Brink told UPROXX

Considering both the players were drafted high, the fans had high expectations for the rookies. However, Brink explained that the newcomers need time to adjust to their drafting team considering their previous losing seasons. The star was correct as the duo flourished and had an amazing debut season. However, unfortunately, Brink’s season was cut short while Clark went ahead to win ROTY.
