It appears Cameron Jordan has high hopes for defensive end Chase Young now that he has joined the active New Orleans Saints roster. He expressed his faith in him, saying he’ll bring the greatest to the team’s defensive line.
After having an award-winning rookie season in 2020, Young hasn’t been able to keep up with the Pro Bowler standards he set for himself. But as he embarks on the new chapter of his NFL career with the Saints, it’s an opportunity for Young to reclaim the name he built for himself in his rookie year.
Young’s journey in the NFL began with the Washington Commanders, who traded him to the San Francisco 49ers last year for a third-round pick. After making a season to the Super Bowl with them, he entered the free agency market this offseason. He signed a one-year deal with the Saints the next day after his neck surgery, worth $13 million as long as he stays healthy and active in all 17 games of the upcoming 2024 regular season.
Cameron Jordan’s faith in Chase Young to be a game-changer for the Saints’ defense
During a recent appearance on NFL Total Access Friday Night, the Saints’ star pass rusher showered high praises on the Pro Bowler and visualized how it could lead the team to a whole new dimension.
I think Chase Young is going to be great for our defense. We already got Carl Granderson, who's stellar these last couple of years. I think with growth him being on the opposite side when he gets the right health, physically. He's going to be another piece we can add on.Cameron Jordan said
At some point in my mind, I’m spinning like it’s going to be me, Chase, and Carl Granderson on the field at the same time on a crucial third down and I’m probably going to have to go in the middle.Cameron Jordan added
The eight-time Pro Bowler further highlighted how the addition of Young formulates a strong defensive weapon for defensive coordinator Joe Wood’s squad—given, that the Saints retained linebacker Demario Davis and safety Tyrann Mathieu in new extensions this offseason.
