A few weeks after winning the Open Championship in July 2022, Australian golfer Cameron Smith shocked the world as he left the PGA Tour for the newly launched LIV Golf. Since then, the 31-year-old has received a lot of flak from the fans regarding this move.
However, in a recent interview, Smith seemingly admitted that he has no regrets about this. As the Rippers GC captain gets ready for a busy month of golfing action in his home country, he claimed that his life is “much happier” on LIV Golf.
Smith pointed out that playing on LIV Golf offered him more time to be in his native land compared to his schedule on the PGA Tour.
Smith is now gearing up for four events in Australia. After teeing off at the Queensland PGA Championship next week, he will head to the New South Wales Open, the Australian PGA Championship, and the Australian Open.
Cameron Smith claims to be surprised by Greg Norman’s replacement talks
Recently, there have been several reports suggesting that the Public Investment Fund (PIF) has been looking for a new CEO to replace Greg Norman. This is something that had caught Cameron Smith by surprise.
The golfer had previously claimed that Norman played a huge part in his decision to jump ships between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. However, Smith admitted he had no idea that talks of replacing Norman had been taking place.

Though Greg Norman is expected to be replaced as the CEO, he is still likely going to have a senior role in the league. In his time as CEO, LIV Golf acquired some huge names in golf including Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, and most recently Jon Rahm.
This news also comes at a time when the PGA Tour and LIV Golf’s backer, PIF continue to work on the big merger deal. Will his replacement have any effect on the deal is something that remains to be seen.
