‘Candid’ Isaiah Thomas asserts Kyrie Irving is better than Jayson Tatum before the NBA Finals

Isaiah Thomas took Kyrie Irving over Jayson Tatum in the finals

Kyrie Irving has gotten the opportunity to defeat his former team in the NBA finals. The star certainly has a lot to prove coming back to Boston as he is playing better at the Dallas Mavericks. However, another former Celtics player, Isaiah Thomas has taken things to another level by claiming that Irving is now even better than Jayson Tatum.

Isaiah Thomas recently appeared on the Bully Ball podcast with Rachel Nichols and DeMarcus Cousins. While discussing the better pair between the Mavericks duo and the Celtics duo, Thomas agreed that Kyrie Irving was better than Jayson Tatum. As Cousins denied the idea, Thomas was firm in his opinion.

I am. Imma go with that. I'm a big Kyrie fan… Imma just rock with that. They [Mavericks] got the best player and the best duo.

Being a former Celtic, Thomas admitted that it ‘hurts’ to acknowledge that, but the star was confident about Dallas having the best player in the series. Thomas praised the Celtics but stated that the Mavericks duo is ‘something we haven’t seen’.

Luka Doncic and Irving are a backcourt and the duo thrives offensively with their balanced effort. However, Tatum and Jaylen Brown play on both sides of the court making it hard for their opponents to take a lead. The battle between the two duos will certainly be a treat to watch which Thomas also agreed with.

Isaiah Thomas also chose the Mavericks in clutch over the Celtics

The Mavericks have shocked the viewers too many times with their clutch comeback wins during this season. Doncic and Irving have beaten the buzzer in some of the most important matchups in past games. But the Celtics were certainly not behind. The team also had their fair share of clutch plays in the postseason.

However, it seems like Thomas has no faith in his former team at all. The Suns guard chose Dallas over Boston in each category including in clutch moments. Nichols asked the guest who was more trustworthy at the end of the games, and Thomas jumped in to answer first.

Imma go first. If it's close, the last three or four minutes, I'm going with Dallas.

Considering both the conferences’ finals and the performances of the finalists, it would certainly be a head-to-head battle. Both teams have won clutch games and are likely to face similar situations in the fight for the title. The question only remains about who manages to come out victorious.
