Few NBA superstars are as controversial as Kyrie Irving. But none would disagree that he’s among the greatest handlers in the league’s history and one of the finest point guards in the league. Irving was born on March 23rd, 1992 in Melbourne, Australia, and lived there until the age of 2 before his family moved to the US. He has represented Team USA in the FIBA Basketball World Cup and the 2016 Rio Olympics.

When was Kyrie Irving drafted?

Kyrie Irving was a five-star recruit out of high school and committed to Duke University in October 2009. He spent two seasons at Duke. His first season was cut short due to a severe ligament injury, so he decided to stay in college for another season. He declared for the 2011 NBA draft and was picked first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He spent six years with the franchise before joining the Boston Celtics for a two-year stint. He then spent three and a half seasons with the Brooklyn Nets, before being traded to the Dallas Mavericks in February 2023.

How Many NBA titles has Kyrie Irving won?

After spending three years in the doldrums of the Eastern Conference standings, Kyrie Irving and the Cavaliers were given a new lease of life by the returning LeBron James, who signed with the team in the summer of 2014. Irving and James led the Cavaliers to the NBA Finals, but a knee cap fracture in Game 1 prematurely ended the point guard’s first trip to the championship series, which the Golden State Warriors won in six games. The following year, Irving and James took the Cavaliers to their second straight Finals but trailed 3-1 after Game 4. They went on to engineer the greatest comeback in NBA Finals history and delivered the franchise its first NBA title. The Cavaliers reached the Finals again the following year but lost 4-1 to the Warriors before Irving requested a trade and exited the franchise.
