Six-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro Randy Moss didn’t hold back when speaking about Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill at an event in Miami yesterday. The former Vikings and Raiders star was speaking at a media event promoting his restaurant’s new concession stand partnership at Hard Rock Stadium.

Randy Moss answered several questions regarding the wide receiver position. He admitted that Jerry Rice was the best wideout in the most political sense, but he added that if they were speaking facts, it would be him. This was not the first time he said he’s better than Rice.

“If we’re talking real football, where I knock your ass out, it’s me,” Moss said, via David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Considering it was Miami, it didn’t take long for Tyreek Hill’s name to pop up in the interview. Moss was deeply unapologetic about his answer. The former wideout said that Hill is one of the top five active wideouts. However, he said that Hill has a long way to go before he’s anywhere near the all-time greats.

He’s nowhere all-time. Where is he at in today’s game? Tyreek Hill is probably top five. I put him top five.

Enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018, Randy Moss is ranked fourth all-time in receiving yards (15,292), fourth in touchdowns (156), and 17th in catches (982). In comparison, Tyreek Hill only has 11098 receiving yards and 82 receiving touchdowns.

In terms of the active players, he’s ranked sixth in most receiving yards behind the likes of Davante Adams and Keenan Allen. Amongst the active players, DeAndre Hopkins now leads the list following Julio Jones’ retirement in April 2025.

Hill might be today’s headline, but he’s not even on the same page of the all-time book. And statistically, it’s hard to argue. Hill had a monster season in 2023, 1,799 yards and 119 catches, but it still wasn’t the best of the decade. That crown goes to Cooper Kupp’s 1,947-yard season in 2021, with Justin Jefferson’s 1,809 in 2022 also eclipsing Hill’s mark.

And while Hill is still elite by most measures, his 2024 campaign took a dip. He ended the season with 81 catches, 959 yards, and just six touchdowns, a sharp decline. His 56.4 yards per game was the lowest since his rookie season in 2016.

Tyreek Hill is considered one of the best WRs despite the disappointing 2024 campaign

Tyreek Hill was far from a perfect player last season. However, the Cheetah, as he’s called, is still a feared and respected wideout in the league. In the latest ESPN wide receiver rankings, Hill comfortably made the top 10 despite his weak production numbers in 2024.

The NFL insiders ranked Tyreek Hill third behind Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson as preseason starts later this month. The key part of how high he’s ranked is partly due to the fear he instills in his opponents. An NFC executive quoted in the article:

He still impacts how you prepare for them so much due to his speed. He dictates so much. His speed hasn’t fallen off, despite the down year.

The Cheetah is followed by CeeDee Lamb and AJ Brown in the upcoming places. With Dak Prescott ready to rumble, Lamb is expected to have a huge increase in his production last year. On the same note, will Hill be playing the whole season and possibly bounce back?
