Canelo Alvarez has successfully reeled and rebounded his loss to Dmitry Bivol on May 7, 2022. He is now 3-0, going strong over Gennady Golovkin, John Ryder, and Jermell Charlo. Alvarez soon puts his undisputed super middleweight title straps on the line against the undefeated Jaime Munguia. Before this, though, he sounded off on old associate Ryan Garcia’s dominance over Devin Haney.

The DAZN Exclusive WBC super-lightweight headliner on Apr. 20 saw underdog Ryan Garcia defeat Haney. Furthermore, he defeated the unbeaten Devin Haney in a points game for the first time (115-109, 114-110 and 112-112). Garcia’s social media antics were a magnet for much doubt. However, Canelo Alvarez knew of Garcia’s potential if he was completely locked in mentally.

Nothing I saw surprised me, I think Ryan has a lot of talent and I'm really happy for him. I see that fight and was so happy…Nervous a little bit, but I was so happy for him... With that mentality he can fight anyone...and beat anyone ...He did really good and I'm happy for him...

Michael Benson, boxing editor for talkSport.com (@MichaelBensonn), has reposted their active social media dialogues recently. ‘King Ry,’ ESPN‘s sixth-best active junior welterweight, trained under Canelo Alvarez’s head coach, Eddy Reynoso. However, he later claimed Alvarez betrayed him as the 168lber’s rise to fame impeded his own training. Although such mannerisms hinted Ryan Garcia was off his rocker, he later mended fences.

Alvarez has long been critical of the 25-year-old instigating juvenile feuds. However, Canelo has remained protective of their acquaintance, like a mentor. Conversing with Fight Hub TV, the boxer now says Garcia has proven himself over the betting favorite Devin Haney and can now overcome anyone.

Caleb Plant talks about Canelo Alvarez and Ryan Garcia’s latest fights

‘Saul’ Canelo Alvarez vs. Jaime Munguia in a super middleweight title scrap goes down this weekend on DAZN pay-per-view. Alvarez (60-2-2) often catches flak for the avoidance of native Mexican peers, especially Mexican-American David Benavidez. Munguia marks a long while since he puts his title up for grabs against yet another Mexican. The challenger, meanwhile, stands at 43-0 (34 KOs) and is yet to taste defeat.

An interesting tidbit is that both of them faced the tough cookie, John Ryder, in the previous fights. With so much connecting them, there are also some major differentiations in forms and techniques. Jaime Munguia’s stopping power is a major difference. Alvarez won his 168-pound title against Caleb Plant. Now, Plant weighs in on how Canelo fares against Munguia’s stopping prowess.

I see Canelo coming out with his hand raised, I think he probably stops [Munguia]... He gets hit quite a bit. He's been shook up by people who aren't at [Alvarez's] level. So that's my prediction...

In a later segment, Plant talked to FightHype’s Ron Goodall and also weighed in on Ryan Garcia’s victory over Devin Haney. He considered it a close battle that could have gone either way. He also thinks retrospectively that Garcia’s coming over by 3.2 lbs certainly gained some advantage. Ultimately, Plant felt Garcia’s power stopped Haney from achieving glory.
