Ryan Garcia testing positive for PEDs has caused the boxing world to go into a frenzy. A vast majority of people are accusing him of using unfair ways to win. However, several people, like his rival Gervonta Davis, have stated that they are trying to take away his victory. Similarly, Canelo Alvarez also shared his thoughts on the matter and expressed his support for him. However, Garcia’s promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, chose not to stand behind his fighter amidst these allegations.
The test samples were taken on April 19 and 20, and the results were recently made public, which shocked the world. According to VADA, Garcia tested positive for a banned substance known as Ostarine. It is a steroid used by athletes because it boosts muscle growth. Furthermore, Garcia still has 10 days to submit another sample to refute the allegations of his drug use. As such, Alvarez stated that it is too soon to comment on the matter.

The Mexican boxing superstar was shocked when he heard the claims because he knows Garcia personally and has trained with him. Furthermore, Canelo Alvarez urged people to wait and see how the situation unfolds before hurling accusations at the young boxer.
Subsequently, while Alvarez stated that he didn’t think that Garcia took PEDs, Oscar De La Hoya had a different answer. The promoter mentioned that he doesn’t know if his fighter took drugs, but on paper, it states that he has.
The New York Commission investigates Ryan Garcia
Before the fight, Garcia’s antics caused several questions to be raised about his mental health. As such, he was forced to do a mental evaluation by the New York Commission. Now, after the fight, he has again attracted the attention of the organization because of his positive drug test.
KingRy has firmly denied the allegations about his drug use. Furthermore, he has claimed that he only consumed the supplement called Ashwagandha. In addition, Garcia has claimed that people are conspiring against him to take away his victory and to keep Haney’s record undefeated.
Hence, the matter will now be investigated by the New York Commission. As such, Garcia is expected to send another sample to VADA. Golden Boy Promotions has maintained that KingRy has denied these claims and are looking to resolve the situation.
