The Saudi boxing adviser, Turki Alalshikh, has ambitious plans to bring boxing back to its former glory. This can be seen in Saudi Arabia’s massive involvement in the sport by hosting huge events between renowned fighters. However, Alalshikh still believes that boxing needs to be improved and plans to further implement his plans. He has also revealed that he wants to arrange a super fight between boxing champions Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford.
Alalshikh revealed this during an interview with ESPNS’s Mike Coppinger and stated that boxing is broken or fragmented. The stars of the sport rarely enter the ring because they are not under an umbrella organization like the UFC, for example. Hence, this becomes a hurdle when organizing and negotiating fights between promotion companies. Subsequently, Alalshikh wants to overcome this and deliver the best fights, and he is even aiming to make Alvarez vs. Crawford happen.

The Saudi Arabia adviser believes that the sport does need a lot of work and only needs strategic planning. Furthermore, he spoke about how they have been investing money to promote the Riyadh season and organize fights.
Currently, Saudi Arabia is set to host their first USA event in Las Vegas, and Crawford will be fighting Israil Madrimov. Hence, after this event, Alalshikh will shift his focus towards organizing a fight between the two pound-for-pound kings.

The matchup between Crawford and Alvarez is not new for fans since they have been pitted against each other in several discussions. This is mainly because both of them have reached the epitome of the sport through their achievements. Furthermore, the fight between them would be exciting, and the fighters have also discussed this prospect.
