Nikita Mazepin is all set to make his debut in the Formula 1 with Haas, having to drive alongside Mick Schumacher. Being one of the three debutants in the 2021 season, the race for ‘Rookie of the Year’ could be interesting given the young Russian Driver’s skillset. However, AlphaTauri Team Principal, Franz Tost remains unimpressed by Nikita Mazepin.

According to Franz Tost, Mick Schumacher, Schwartzman and Tsunoda are going to be the future of F1. Since his junior racing seasons, the Russian has been in the news for the wrong reasons. The report points out the time where he angrily crashed into the placement sign in the parc ferme’ post a last-minute penalty. The sign barely missed Tsunoda’s face as it flew past the Japanese racer’s ears.

Franz Tost spoke about Nikita Mazepin and said, “Of course I could get brutal again and say: You can’t make a tiger out of a cow! In the end, it always depends on it how much brain a driver has and then switches on in the cockpit.

“In my long time in motorsport, I have found that in the end only those drivers who are intelligent and know why they are doing something will prevail – and those who do too behave accordingly,” Tost explained.

Haas F1 boss Guenther Steiner had expressed earlier that he is ready to give his rookie driers room for mistakes. Mazepin had a few good races in his last F2 season, however, it will be interesting to see his performance curve, or lack of it, in Formula 1.
