Esparza lost two consecutive fights against Claudia Gadelha and Tatiana Suarez. But after that, she bounced back and won four consecutive fights with her most recent win coming against Mariana Rodriguez on UFC on ESPN: Whittaker vs Till.

As for Yan Xiaonan, she is ranked number 3 in the division and she is one of the most dangerous and newly emerging contenders for the strawweight title. The Chinese fighter is still undefeated in UFC with a six-fight win streak.

Her latest win came against Claudia Gadelha back in November 2020 on UFC on ESPN: Santos vs Teixeira.

Will Esparza be the kryptonite for Xiaonan?

Carla Esparza

Carla Esparza is one of the biggest names in the strawweight division and she is the inaugural strawweight champion. Esparza won the title by defeating Rose Namajunas but in her very next fight she lost it against Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

Yan Xiaonan has established herself as the most dangerous strawweight fighter who hasn’t seen L in her UFC carrier. She holds victories over fighters such as Claudia Gadelha, Angela Hill, and Syuri Kondo.

So will Esparza be able to give the first defeat of her UFC carrier or she will lose her title run?
