Carlos Alcaraz reiterated that he cannot judge the situation about the doping controversy around Jannik Sinner. After his first-round win over Li Tu at the US Open, Alcaraz was asked at the press conference to comment on what he thinks about the entire doping saga.
Sinner failed two drug tests in March this year after which, he was provisionally suspended. The Italian youngster however appealed before an independent tribunal which cleared him of all charges in a short time. This is the reason why it became a big issue.
The ITIA on several occasions took years to prove the innocence of players who, like Sinner, accidentally contaminated themselves. As the ITIA quickly solved Sinner’s case without him facing years of suspension, many from the tennis fraternity slammed the organization.
A few even doubt Sinner, not believing his explanation about how the banned steroid, clostebol, entered his system. Alcaraz thinks he cannot say what is right or wrong without knowing the full information.
It’s a very sensitive and serious issue. There’s a lot of information a lot of people don’t know and I include myself because I don't know. He tested positive but there have been reasons we don’t know that allowed him to play. In the end, they consider him innocent.Carlos Alcaraz said at the press conference

Jannik Sinner says he can’t control what players say about him
After securing a four-set victory over Mackenzie McDonald at the US Open, Jannik Sinner opened up about the mixed reactions from the tennis fraternity about the doping controversy. He doesn’t think the situation is that bad and because of this, he is ‘happy’.
You know, I cannot really control what they think and what they say. You know, that's how everything went and how it was. I cannot control the players' reactions.Jannik Sinner said at a press conference
Sinner unintentionally contaminated himself when through the lesions on his skin, the steroid entered his body. This happened while getting massages from his physiotherapist. Giacomo Naldi, the physio, who is not working with Sinner anymore, had been using a spray to treat a cut on his finger. The spray was given to him by Sinner’s fitness coach Umberto Ferrara who purchased it from Italy. Sinner has also parted ways with Ferrara.
Sinner will next lock horns with Alex Michelsen. He has never won the US Open, with the Australian Open this year being his first Grand Slam title.
