Carlos Alcaraz is overwhelmed with his rivalry with World No.1 Jannik Sinner. The two are dominating the tennis circuit right now, ranked World No.2 and World No.1 respectively.
In a recent interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Alcaraz spoke about the importance of his rivalry with Sinner. He believes that it is important that the two tennis giants maintain respect outside of the court. Alcaraz said to Gazzetta dello Sport:
I find it fantastic for tennis that we are building such a beautiful rivalry. I believe it will attract more and more people to our sport. Every time we face each other, we push each other beyond our limits. For me, the best of tennis is the mutual respect it fosters among rivals. Sinner and I are good friends, we can talk about many things off the court, I am convinced that we will always maintain our relationship on these terms. He is a great person.
Alcaraz and Sinner have won the last seven Grand Slam titles. Moreover, they have dominated the ATP Rankings. Despite the brief stint of Alexander Zverev as World No.2, these two have held the top of the world rankings in the last couple of seasons.
Alcaraz has won the most ATP titles and the most matches this year. On the other hand, Sinner has collected the most Grand Slam titles (2).
Carlos Alcaraz assesses his 2025 performance
World No.2 Carlos Alcaraz has looked back on his performances in the 2025 season. The Spaniard fell short recently in the Wimbledon final, but is on track to finish at the top of the world rankings this year. He added:
I have achieved very important things, met key goals set at the beginning of the year, and I want to continue in this line. I often think about the Roland Garros final and I still don’t know how I did it. That match showed me that you have to keep believing in yourself until the end, never get discouraged, no matter what happens. At Wimbledon, I gave my best, but Jannik’s level was extraordinary.

The Spaniard is the only player this year to win titles on all surfaces. He won his first title of the season at Rotterdam after having a disappointing Australian Open, where he lost to Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals.
Then, he dominated the clay court swing, winning the Italian Open and Monte Carlo for the first time. Then, he successfully defended his Roland Garros crown by edging Jannik Sinner in a five-set epic. He backed that win with the title at Queen’s Club, which was the second of his career. He fell short of making a hat trick of Wimbledon titles, losing to Sinner in four sets.
Jannik Sinner seeks history at the US Open
Jannik Sinner has emerged as the dominant force in men’s tennis over the past 20 months. He has claimed four of the last seven Grand Slam titles, triumphed at the 2023 Nitto ATP Finals, and helped Italy secure two Davis Cup victories.
In 2025, Sinner won both the Australian Open and Wimbledon, and came within a point of winning the French Open. Heading into the US Open as the defending champion and current world No. 1, he is aiming to match Carlos Alcaraz’s Grand Slam tally and become just the fifth man in 50 years to win three majors in a single season.

Mats Wilander accomplished this rare feat in 1988. That year, he won the Australian Open—his third title in Melbourne and first on hard courts—after defeating Pat Cash in a five-set final. He followed it with a victory at the French Open, where he outlasted a young Andre Agassi in a five-set semifinal before beating Henri Leconte in the final. At the US Open, Wilander got his revenge over Ivan Lendl from the previous year, sealing a five-set win and earning his only title in New York.
Roger Federer achieved three-Slam seasons in 2004, 2006, and 2007. In 2004, he claimed his first Australian Open, defended his Wimbledon crown, and dominated Lleyton Hewitt at the US Open. In 2006 and 2007, he repeated this achievement by winning the same trio of tournaments. Notably, in 2007, Federer became the only man to win a hard-court Grand Slam without dropping a set, finishing the Australian Open unbeaten.
Rafael Nadal joined the list in 2010, bouncing back from injury struggles the previous year. He won the French Open without dropping a set, reclaimed the Wimbledon title, and earned his first US Open crown by defeating Novak Djokovic in four sets.
Novak Djokovic stands alone with four such seasons—2011, 2015, 2021, and 2023. His most recent triple came with wins over Tsitsipas in Australia, Ruud in Paris, and Medvedev in New York, reinforcing his dominance across all surfaces.
