This was also the Spaniard’s third consecutive win over the World No. 1 this year, having met previously in Indian Wells and French Open semifinals. Alcaraz broke Sinner’s 15-match winning steak as the latter took home two trophies from the North American hard court swing, winning the Cincinnati Masters and his second Grand Slam title at the US Open.

At the US Open, he shockingly lost in the second round, with fatigue considered the reason behind that loss.
Carlos Alcaraz’s and Jannik Sinner’s next target is the Shanghai Masters
En route to his victory over Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz secured his sixth win over Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals. All matches, except for the final, were won by Alcaraz in straight sets. After the close encounter against the Italian, Alcaraz ended up calling him the “best player in the world” and a “beast” because of the level of tennis he had been playing.
Both Alcaraz and Sinner shared this season’s four Grand Slams between them. Sinner took home the Australian Open and US Open, while Alcaraz clinched his first French Open before defending his Wimbledon crown.
Alcaraz and Sinner will now be gearing up for the Shanghai Masters and the former will kick start his campaign with a match against home favorite Shang Juncheng on October 3. Sinner, on the other hand, will be up against Taro Daniel or qualifier Egor Gerasimov in his opening match.
