On Saturday (October 19), Carlos Alcaraz failed to secure $6 million prize money after defeat to Jannik Sinner in the Six Kings Slam final. After the match, when Alcaraz approached his team to greet them, someone from the crowd almost hit the Spaniard.

Alcaraz did not like it at all when the spectator threw the ball toward him. He made some moments with his hand to ask why the ball was thrown at him.

Although Alcaraz ended up losing the tournament, he entered the final as a favorite, for he had won all the matches he played against Sinner this year. The 21-year-old also leads 6-4 over Sinner in their head-to-head encounters on the ATP Tour. Before this match, they met in the semifinals at the Indian Wells and French Open and the final of the China Open.

The China Open was the only final Sinner lost in the four back-to-back summit clashes he played on the ATP Tour. Even though the Six Kings Slam is an exhibition event, it’s Sinner’s eighth title. Before arriving in Riyadh, he defeated Novak Djokovic to become the first Italian player to win the Shanghai Masters.

I’ll try to do my best every day during the year. Hopefully, it will make this rivalry better and better over the years. I want to say I’m grateful to have him around on tour. Thanks to him, I push myself to the limit. I give my 100% every day to be a better player. It’s a pleasure every time I share the court with him. Sometimes it’s tough to find joy.

Carlos Alcaraz said after the match

Both Alcaraz and Sinner shared all four Grand Slam trophies of this year between them. Sinner bagged his first major title at the Australian Open and later took home the US Open.

Alcaraz, on the other hand, played an epic final at the French Open to win the title for the first time. He then denied seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic his record 25th Grand Slam trophy by beating him in straight sets in the final at SW19.
